All borders are officially close as of 5pm today....Thais are allowed entry back to Thailand but other nationalities are temporary denied entry into Thailand.

All five crossings Thai/Cambodia in January were set 0600 to 2200. Thats open 6 am to 10 pm at night.

If I understand the posts here correctly, the source is a casino owner in Poipet who told a Thaivisa member who is employed by the casino on Thursday that there won't be any tour groups or gamblers coming to his casino on Friday, and the personal observation of the Thaivisa member that the gates on both sides of the border border were closed by 18:00, ie one hour after the official closing time for the day.

We now have to wait for reports about the situation at 07:30 on Friday, the official opening time of the border, and the remainder of Friday and subsequent days.

what kind of source do I need if I am actually at the border check point? the casino I'm working is like 3 minutes walk to the border. all thai customers are asked to leave the casino by the immigration, all our thai staff have to leave too. it all started at 5pm & by 6pm the gates were closed on both side. no one is allowed in & out once the border is closed, it's as simple as that. all tour groups & gamblers are not allowed to cross into Cambodia tomorrow due to border closer.

Maybe you could have replied to the Admin by saying your source is empirical knowledge. Its just too easy to let the rumor mill gain high gear traction in situations such as this.

Yes, clarity is important! We are all just reading words on a screen out here! If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a thousand pictures could describe the present situation. We will just have to give this agitated situation time to settle and clarify, to see what's really up.

The opening hours were changed to 6am to 10pm some months ago, That info is outdated.

I have a Laotian friend friend stuck in Pakse. He lives and works in BKK. He needs to get back to work in BKK and would like to know if the border is open and whether it's safe to travel by road to BKK. He had locals there telling him that the road to BKK is full of army road blocks and problems.

Immigration insists you get the proper visas.

Some people are insisting that some land borders are closed/or perhaps are closing early

Flying In and out is no problem.

Unless you are near the end of your 90 days I would wait a couple of days before trying Chong Mek. I suspect they have it closed down.

You could also get a 60 day extension to visit your wife at immigration. Your wife would have go with you. You will need your marriage certificate, your wife's house book and ID card.

This situation is certainly unexpected and an inconvenience to many travelers. Save for a declaration banning night time flights, I would recommend passengers rebook themselves onto day time flights (day time arrivals or departures, say between 6 and 8pm) if that is an option, depending on the airline. Alternatively, delay travel, especially inbound travel to Thailand, until the situation returns back to normal.

I crossed the Laos border yesterday , Friday at 3pm, there were no problems it seemed business as usual, I did not see anyone get turned away and there was a fairly large group as I entered the Immigration area.....and I did not notice a military presence more so that usual.....

Thank you for the "first hand" report. Sometimes it gets tiresome reading some of these reports based on hearsay and bar talk. My UK friend is on his way to Nong Khai today, hoping to be able to cross the bridge tomorrow. He is on a multi entry O visa and his current 90 day permission to stay expires tomorrow the 25th.
