Thai junta bans former leaders from leaving country

BANGKOK, May 23, 2014 (AFP) - Thailand's army said on Friday that 155 prominent figures, including ousted government leaders, were banned from leaving the country without permission following a military coup.

They include former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra and several relatives.

The heat is on.

Mr Prayuth I hope you will finish with the rogue politics in this country once and for all.

Hunting season is opened, and let someone trow the "King of Dubai" from his throne as well.

Doing a great jon so far.

Wouldn't it be better if they left?

It is better that they stay.

Now that they are unemployed they will be free to spend their time giving evidence in their court cases.

Less reason for adjournments ++++

Is she still even here in Thailand ? If she was smart she would have got herself a Burka and headed off to see big bro.

Yeah the last i read in another article was that she and her succesor's whereabouts was unknown.

Wouldn't it be better if they left?

Even if you mean all sides of the political spectrum that is a frightening suggestion from a supposedly intelligent western person.

Let's hope they are kept here for intent purposes of locating the hundreds of billions of Baht they raped, and placed in bank accounts. Let's truly hope the dosh is located, and placed back where it originally belongs or was intended for.

Banning them from leaving is one thing but enforcement quite another.

Don't forget Thacksin was democratically elected. A d illegally removed from power.right or wrong, good or bad.

How naive can one be. Everything will be rosy and hummy when Thaksin is gone. It is all about the enormous gap between rich and poor. And it ihas been boiling since early -40's. Thaksin is only a pion in the distrasous political game. And now the Army really made it a failed state.

Nice try, but wrong. He wasn't the legal PM.

How is that relevant?

Chatchai was illegally removed by a coup in 1991 too.

Thaksin has been cut from the system in ways quite definitive. Ever since his amnesty bill - which was a great, cosmic blunder on his part - it was clear that he had inadvertently enabled the path of his own exit. Thaksin's exit was completely self-fashioned and self-orchestrated. All these people who are now being called upon to report - they are all the consequences of Thaksin's ambitions. They are the fallout. They've all stepped up to the plate for him. Yingluck showed up today with a measure of grace. In so doing she has taught her brother a thing or two.

History....get over it....he ain't comin' back!

At the point he was removed he wasn't elected. Expired caretaker with too less MPs for a functional parliament.

Or there is a tertiary motive in her show, perhaps?

Her brother taught her a thing or two also; how to transfer money out before being forced out?

Let's see how long it takes for General Prayuth to find a way to pay the poor beleaguered farmers, wherever they are, they deserve some real attention, not the characters in captivity in Bangkok.

.

Yingluck is banned from shopping outside...that is just too cruel.

It seems like this coup is well planned by the Army.

I hope that everything will go back to normal soon.

It is a good idea to keep the former leaders in Thailand.

They misses the last time that Thaksin got away.

"Her brother taught her a thing or two also; how to transfer money out before being forced out"?

You'd know, would you? Give it a rest, please.

You have no evidence whatsoever (and repeating unsubstantiated statements from other equally ill-informed TV posters is NOT evidence).

Seems to me that if you ever had an original thought it would rattle around in your head like a marble in a tin can.

Oh but wait! Here comes another bandwagon for you to jump on...

Just hope, the "Thai Junta" bans all future amnesties for "politically motivated crimes" too wink.png

blimey if that starts en masse and without fear of favour there will be no one - just no-one to run the country.
