Former PM Yingluck May Be Detained For '3-7 Days'

Well, perhaps the good General would consider allowing my six year old daughter to go to school and watch cartoons on TV. Also, her Dad wouldn't mind being alowed to watch some sport on TV.

I don't believe that either of us have done anything against the General in the past, nor do I believe we represent a threat to him in the future. And I can't for the life of me see how non news channels can be critical of any action that the good General decides to take or provide us with any political arguments that might differ from the good generals own views.

So how about it? Can we continue with our normal life? Or do we continue to be collateral damage?

No rhyme or reason to arrest her.sad.png

Yes there was. She represents an insidious disease that needs to be eradicated. Show the people that a Shin, one arm of the Shin, has been cut from the flesh, and it slowly chips away at Thaksin's insidiousness. One less rallying point for future reds to cling to. Think about it.

WRONG ! She represents the wishes of the absolute majority of the Thai population, not just a few from the south.

I feel sort of sad for her in a way. Thaksin in essence forced her into this position, and

then gave her skype instructions on how to loot the country. What at first seemed

like power and free shopping trips abroad has now turned horribly wrong for her..

I have no sympathy for her at all, she is incompetent, but she knew full well that her government was screwing the country.

The Desert Coward though shows once again that he cares for no one but himself.

You outside farang, you come from democracies. Why don't you call on your countries to help, instead of wasting your time in here on forums. Get in action for justice, for truth, for freedom of speach, go do it !

Speaking as an American, (which should qualify me to be called 'outside farang') we have no more say so in what the U.S. government does than the Thai do in influencing their governments. Democracy is not practiced anywhere. The US is a Republic and not a Democracy. Democracy doesn't protect property or wealth creations, I don't want democracy in Thailand nor could Thailand sustain being a Republic any better than Cambodia; thin 'Hun Sen'. Thailand is better off practicing democracy with the 'training wheels' put on by the ever present possibility that the army will stage a coup d’état.

BTW, thinkingofhow, you didn't tell us which side you want our governments to help.smile.png

Some really important details missing here:

1. Will she be able to use her Skype account?

2. Will they organize daily shopping excursions?

It amazes me that persons like yourself would even think of going on TV to demonstrate your utter jealousy of the fact that she is wealthy and in comparison you have sweet FA. Give it a rest, most of us could not give a toss how much money she has, stop tearing yourself apart with petty jealousy, get a life, most women love to go shopping, its is not your business, we are sick of having to read your jealous crap. w00t.gif

Additional 35 people summoned by Military. Sounds like we have a few songbirds! Just announced on BBC.

Yup, that is what happens when you round up the usual suspects and cut them a plea bargain deal. They rat on their co-conspirators.

Robert Amsterdam is already talking about setting up a government in exile. Better to detain them until they can be charged with corruption and then deny them bail.

No surprise there. Head was writing about red shirt resistance, saying they were better organized than 2006 and could easily be financed from Thaksin's deep pockets. (No mention of how he fills them!).

The PR and lobbyists are will be working overtime to present the red shirts as freedom fighters and Thaki as some kind of benevolent unjustly treated leader. All while completely glossing over all their illegal acts of the last 3 years.

One poster (sorry I've forgotten your avatar) often comments that this is about a much bigger picture - and he's right. The "international" community - like the US, EU, Aussie are so easily led when it what they want to hear as it fits in with their agenda. Has China or Russia commented so far?

No one wants to see a country under military law and rule. But, those countries that are quick to slag off Thailand haven't had to live under a criminally corrupt lawless regime and have many safeguards in place to stop it.

Lost your sense of humor then? Stop being a poor loser. If you don't like his humor don't bother with it. No need to show yourself up.

Internationally, the detention of Yingluck will be a Public Relations disaster for the Generals.

Domestically, she is still popular in the provinces, and this will only lead to inflame her supporters.

It's already a PR disaster abroad , wgaf about that, here I'm not so sure, so going the whole hog, stay low I say.

I can't believe you don't realise how much the Western leaders know about YS, Thaksin & the PTP criminals and that they are all privately cheering the Thai Army like most of the Thai people I have spoken to are

Really? And what Western Leaders do you know that would make you privy to their personal opinions and knowledge of the Thaksin family? In point of fact both Shinawatra Thaksin and Yink Luck are well liked and respected in America, Shinawatra is especially popular and liked in the State of Texas where he went to University and served as a police officer. The bottom line Sir, it that you don't know squat about what Western Leaders know or don't know.

If you would read the 'Wikileak's' section on Thailand, you would shocked at how much the US knows. and now that it's been exposed that personal phones of World leaders are bugged, it would be safe to say that Thaksin's Skype/Cabinet meetings are all recorded and a report is made. The U.S. is so far up every part of Thai power; think democratically elected Vietnamese governments of the late '50s and early '60s. Watch how quick any sanctions imposed are lifted. You can believe the RTA got back door clearance to act.

Mind numbing. One day in and they shoot themselves in the foot in respect of promoting reconciliation by being malicious and vindictive. Can it get ant more stupid?

There may be another reason for holding her.

If she is restricted from her brother then there is the chance for her to have to think on her own,

i still think the fact that Suthep and Jatuporn were taken out and spoken to BEFORE the military did anything says something.

I have a feeling that the plan right ow is to get the Shin big wigs out of the picture so that he has no ability to spout his crap.

As crazy as both Jatuporn and Suthep are they are both after the same thing. Keeping them away from the big lights, media and the PT that keep shooting themselves the foot may resolve things.

a disgrace...

A disgrace and a very poor reflection on Thailand..

A disgrace -maybe, but I really consider it much more of a disgrace that these people that were elected chose not to work for the people and country they swore an oath to but chose instead to rob this country to such an extent it now sits on the edge of bankruptcy (the effect of their daylight robbery will not come into being for a short while yet - but it will). The poor in the North who were promised they would be 'rich' in 6 months before the election are now poorer than ever and the man fitting of a role as a 1960's Bond bad guy is sat in Dubai going Mbahahahaha.

Disgrace - on reflection no, a good move to prevent civil disturbance and commence justice proceedings - yes i think so.

imagine: if the military wouldn't put all these people in protective custody (iso arrest) . They would be instant prey for all who seek blood.

the top of the ex government might want to thank the army. Also explains the the kind of garden party on the photo where lady behind Y. is widely smiling or is it laughing?

If they take away her tablet and internet access, a good lawyer could sue for cruel and unusual punishment. How will she survive without Candy Crush?

She'll first have to make a request to Gen Chan-ocha to have a Candy Crush machine installed in the barracks before she can make decent CUP case.

Edge of bankruptcy? Even after all the political unrest and damage to tourism in the last year, all ratings agencies say there is no sign of a downgrade to what they see as an overall very stable economy. Don't forget Thailand has 150 Billion dollars or more in reserves.

Thailand has plenty of money - always has done, it just never gets shared past the top 3 class tiers. Not going to break these down here, as it's not permitted.

Can you name one government in the last 100 years where every MP in the cabinet has worked in the interest of the people?

How is it legal, and unbiased, for the Military to keep Yingluck for 2-3 days but let that criminal insurrectionist Suthep go free? Methinks this means that the mil will instill Suthep's thugs as government and ignore the procedures of democracy.

I am not sure this is wise by the Military, I think remove passports and freeze all assets then release until anti corruption finishes with the rice scam investigation.

Most people from the Ex Pat community are supportive of the coup and want elections supervised by the military and many of the current agitators banned from standing till after their trial.

Most definitely remove their passports and freeze all of their assets then release them on condition that they report to the Military in person every few days. Far too easy for these people (who know people) to wriggle out of the country by some means or other. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they already have a number of false passports to hand for such an eventuality.

She has a brain and free will...

Perhaps next time she wont be so gullible and also understands that involving herself with her brother leads to more trouble. The country has been telling her this for a long time and now she is a victim of her brothers nonsense and like the country, she is suffering the consequences!
