1 year non imm O based on marriage in Penang ?

A buddy just screwed up by leaving his money in a joint account, and doesnt want to have to repeat the process in 3 months as he needs to use the money.

If he goes to Penang, are they giving multiple entry non imms down there for married guys ??

Just checking as he will go elsewhere if they are only giving singles.

If he wants a multiple he should go to Savanakhet, Laos.

Penang will only issue a single entry non-O.

There have been no reports for Penang since it was reported they are no longer doing them.

Savannakhet Laos does them with no financial proof needed.

Got a mail yesterday from Banana Guesthouse/ Visa Agent. They say it is possible:

Non Immigrant O 1yr visa (married)

1. original married certificate

2. wife ID copy

3 original thailand bank book with at least 400,000

4. wife tabian ban book

Application is RM550 + RM60 our service charge.

Submission time is from 9am-11.30am (need to be at our office by 10.30am)

Collection is at 2.30pm on the next working day.

Normally they should know.......

With 400,000 in the bank one could apply for a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage.

Savanakhet doesn't require money in the bank or a minimum income.

He has the money, but he didnt know it couldnt be a joint account.. And they wont accept that.

Plus he needs to dig into it before the next 90 days seasoning time can be done.. So a ME visa gets him another year that way.

I hope he does not waste a trip to Penang going by a post that does not confirm he can get the visa.

The only confirmation I would accept is of somebody really getting one.

I suspect he will try it.. Savhanakhet is a long and expensive way for him from down south.. Penangs an easy hop.

If he does it this month I will report if it works. He has the money though, just in a joint account.

Best he contact the Visaagent or the Consulate by hisself. I only can confirm the email not more. Will try it maybe in 2,5 month.
