Asiantravel
It appears to me Thailand has probably some of the best coverage by Google maps street view compared to any other country in Southeast Asia. I was pleasantly surprised to find that even a relatively small city like CHANTABURI which is between Rayong and Trat has even been covered by street view and not only the city itself even all the way down to the beaches on the coastline. There is no such street view coverage even in countries like Malaysia or Vietnam. Not even major cities like Beijing and Shanghai in China or even Mumbai or Delhi in India (or even Bangalore the city of technology) have been covered by street view yet.
lomatopo
They have five (5) vehicles (Subaru Imprezas) here and have been running them for at least three years. Google also has a subsidiary here. https://www.google.com/maps/views/streetview/thailand-highlights?gl=us Edited June 2, 2014 by lomatopo

I know Bangkok, Chiang Mai and even Pattaya have already been completed as well. Do you know why they seem to have concentrated so heavily on Thailand? BKKdreaming
is there a way to use street view and automatically have it "drive" a route you take ? example : Start at terminal 21 Asok and "drive" to Chinatown maybe setting the speed at 40km or so so put it up on the big screen for a scenic cruise
gawaterman
Yeah, I was surprised when my bil's house, where we stay when we visit, in the back-blocks of Sri Racha was covered.
Tomtomtom69
Not every part of Thailand has been covered yet, but they are working on it. As usual, Thailand is streets ahead of it's neighbors on this. I wonder why Malaysia and Cambodia (at least) don't have street view yet? Not to mention Indonesia? And with the change of government in Myanmar, they really should have Google cars mapping their roads (at least the major highways and cities) too. Apparently some parks in mainland China (I think Xiamen and in Tianjin) now have street view, but they collectively cover less than 0.001% of the country's area. lomatopo
I think I counted 14 Subaru Imprezas one night. OK, I saw a local TV news spot here last week, with a Google employee/Streetview driver. I must have misunderstood the reference to "five cars"?
KhunBENQ
Best in South East Asia? Yes, because its basically the only country with street view in SEA Only KL, a few more spots in Malaysia and Singapore are covered elsewhere. Do you count Singapore for a "country" ? Just move the "walker" over the map. Edited June 3, 2014 by KhunBENQ

DivinGuy
It's very good. I can see the in-laws' house as well as the gate to a farm we bought and both are in very rural western Ratchaburi.

Don't get carried away. Thailand is only ahead of places like China in Google Street View. In almost every other way, Thailand is decades behind China. And now it's even falling behind places like Indonesia and Vietnam too...
Guitar God
I guess Ubon is on Google's bucket list. They only did one street in the entire city, Chayangkun.

Even put it on the big screen if you like! Handy to have when that Red Light Runner hits you and runs away.
