Supermarket with delivery

Featured Replies

Don't know if the topic fits here, if not Mod please move it.

Are there supermarkets that deliver in Bangkok? I am tired of riding the taxi to the next bigger supermarket just to find out that the only think that I need is just today out of stock.

So if there would be a nice webpage or cataloge to order and they bring it, it would be very nice.

supermarket that delivers, that would be handy for them to get rid of old stock.bah.gif

Tesco Lotus looks the easiest to understand...

Tesco has been in operation for more than a year here in Bangkok and have dedicated freezer/refrigerator vans so frozen will be delivered frozen. My last order, this week, however had only Thai language on bills - they had been providing in dual language for last six months. But we always have delivery man clear items during delivery so not that important except for substitution items but they normally are careful to point them out and you do not have to accept. You could print out a photo inventory from internet if you wanted. It used to require credit or debit card for payment but they have accepted cash for last few months - only charge is 60 baht deliver which is less that taxi fare and often have discounts for more than 2,000 baht purchase or free delivery options.

Yes, the paper order docs that the Tesco driver brings come in Thai language only since the past month or so. But, when you place the order online, the website gives you a list of the items you've ordered and it includes small thumbnail photos of the items ordered. I usually print or otherwise save that visual list, to help with reconciling things.

All in all, I'd say the Tesco website and ordering process is the easiest to use, compared to both Tops and Big C. And as Lopburi mentioned, Tesco has the advantage of delivering refrig and frozen items -- which Tops doesn't do.

However, Tesco isn't perfect by any means. Lately, with our orders, they regularly show various on their online ordering website, but when our order arrives, the delivering store says "out of stock." I guess that's because they have various stores handling deliveries for various areas, and if an item is out of stock at one store, they won't list the items as out of stock throughout their entire system.
