BANGKOK, June 9 - The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is due to be implemented at the end of 2015, but Thailand says it is well prepared for aviation liberalisation under its framework, according to Voradej Harnprasert, director-general of the Civil Aviation Department.

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) sees the ASEAN single aviation market as greatly important after taking effect under the AEC cooperation and has ordered every Thai government agency to prepare for its implementation.

Mr Voradej said Thailand has approved and ratified the pact with almost all ASEAN members, except Indonesia and the Philippines, which incidated they needed to reserve flight programmes for domestic operations.

As both nations have many islands, their concerned officials have to calculate on domestic flights to serve would-be travellers.

Thailand’s aviation industry is considered strong enough and its strength is now ranked one of the three leading countries in the region, along with Malaysia and Singapore, he said.

The kingdom has cooperated to help develop the Lao aviation industry in building a new airport and preparing for air traffic. (MCOT online news)

Just hang on a minute!

MALAYSIA as a "leader" in this regions. Aviation......they still can't find any trace of a Very, very large Airplane and managed to prove how hopeless, various Malaysian authorities are, with anything to do with Civil Aviation.

If Thailand were really ready, then the 3rd-runway at Swampy would already be in-use, rather than just long-awaited/under-construction. wink.png
