Only idiots tip baht bus drivers (unless they provide some sort of extra service).

Newbie question: Are we supposed to tip ladyboys when they feel us up on beach road?

  • Popular Post

They are usually trying to lift your wallet, so no tip necessary.

Now I'm confused. My wallet is in the back pocket, but my p-thaing is in the front. What are they really looking for?

Be careful about assuming it's actually tipping, my dudes. Par exemple going from Jomtien to north Putz-aya row-d you'd often be expected to spoon over the BIG 20 face smackers... or else!!!!

So don't be judgin'.

Every time you tip a baht bus driver, a ladyboy gets his wings.

You mean that one says

Yes I go beach , then let you out after 2 minutes , and says you must change bus pay me 10 baht this happen all the time

I've seen foreigners tipping 7-11 clerks, as a result, many 7-11s in major tourist areas now have tip boxes.

We don't appear stupid- we already have that T- shirt :)

As baht buses are for poor people, am suprised they can affordto tip

That's a gross generalization.

In my area the box at 7/11 is for an orphanage or another charity association,

and yes, I often put my small change inside.

If people are poor and get steamed up over $4 it's not my fault.

It's my money, so it's nobody's business who, why and for what I tip.

I don't have a problem with that and neither should you.

Just saying

It's everybody's business if your dumb tipping ends up raising the price for the rest

Do you pay 100 for white rice from stand? 100 for a coke at 7/11? bus back in hometown USA costs $1.25 last time I looked. When you overpay like that, it causes market distortion. Word gets around fast. Like giving you live in "girlfriend" 50k a month, other girls find out.... then all the rest of us get grief due to your "generosity". Ever try getting a standard 10baht ride during some event? Good luck. Lines of them waiting for some dude with more money than brains.... If you've been here 15 years I would suggest you think of more than just yourself and what a wonderful person you are for paying far too much.

Regular riders do not pay a 100 baht fare for a 10 baht cattle truck bus ride. But for those who wish to do such an absurd thing ... do carry on.

Also keep in mind typical journeys involve multiple fares to reach a destination ...

I sincerely apologize to anyone who's life I made more miserable because of my outragious tipping of baht bus drivers.sad.png

I also apologize for not understanding that it's not my decision to make how and on what I spend MY money. sad.png

On the other hand read my signature please.

Yermanee

I bet it dont get there lol

Could you please enlighten us on where the money goes ?

  • Popular Post

Yermanee is absolutely right! I tip anytime I receive friendly, polite and better than expected service. That is my business alone. (Btw, I give the flight attendants on every flight I take a box of Chocolates too. You always get a lot more in return that what you give)!

Baht buses are the best thing about Pattaya. Brilliant. Easy to use, go most places along the beaches and back even Jomtien and Naklua.

They are what makes Pattaya a user friendly place much easier that Hua Hin , Sanui or Phuket.

Just have some change in your pocket that is the key.

I wonder how many people advocating tipping baht bus drivers here give tips to bus drivers back in their home country!
