It's ironic. The west gives loads of money to saudi for oil, and that money is used to sponsor terrorism. Time for the west to stop funding saudi and develop a non oil based economy.

I believe it is generally accepted that Sunni dictatorships (or you could say regional proxies) have been supported by the West in an attempt to counter the activities of Iran & Syria.

Other than the explicit threat quoted in the article, the general narrative has been known for many years. The ex Head of MI6 must have passed on the threat to US/NATO, what was the outcome / change in strategy?

The same ex MI6 guy has stated that the IS / Islamic extremism threat to the West has been blown out of proportion and government are overreacting.

Even the Kurds are now attacking Iraqs oil fields , Isis is going to take baghdad , let the Iraqis protect themselves we have spent enough money on their country for such a poor result, only big oil and building contractors have benefited from our taxpayer dollars.

The Kurds took over Kirkuk to defend them from ISIS taking them, its old Kurdish territory anyway, the Kurds are the only sane people in the area
