I sometimes get a little callous about stuff, but the picture of a gay person being burned alive is a reality check of epic proportions.

I suggest Kerry ask Thaksin to use his inestimable influence in that country to change these laws.

What revolting people they are. Let's hope the sanctions don't hurt the desperately poor too much.

I just agree with the chorus of voices above ...

From the News article that Scott highlighted ...

"House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday's announcement "sends a stern signal to the Ugandan government: the United States will not tolerate the vile persecution of LGBT Ugandans."

The legislation "represents breathtaking ignorance, injustice, and cruelty," Pelosi said in a statement."

Yep, really sad and devastating to read some of the comments in the world news post... these people have no idea about human rights / equality and a lot of other things...

However, all those who praise the US... you should say "well done, current US democratic governement"... not sure the GOP and their Tea Party activists would have bothered to even think about doing something...
