Hello everyone,

I was advised to join this forum by a British man I meet in a bar as I was telling him my story.

Recently I lost my job in England and decided to come to Thailand for two weeks for a break.I had heard a lot about the place form ex workmate so I said why not go see what everyone was talking about.

So I arrived in Bangkok excited and cashed up from my redundancy package. I had a great time for the first week, had plenty of party women and for the first time in my life felt like a millionaire as everything seem so affordable.

Then I meet my now girlfriend that is one of the reason's my 2 week holiday has become a 4 month stay!

I don't want to go home I love it here.

But I need to start making some money soon to be able to stay in Thailand.

Some people told me I could Teach English but I wouldn't know where to start with that and English is not my best subject.

One guy told me that he works at home on the internet but wouldn't tell me the details but said it was safe to work online and not have a work permit.

So people did anyone else find themselves in this situation and what did you do?

Does anyone know a legit online job or business I could get into to earn money in Thailand?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my story.

A bit late in the day to begin planning on how to stay in Thailand with no income...

Working online requires skills which you obvious do not possess today, so you would have to develop those skills... Much like any other endeavor, some succeed, but most fail at generating an online income... Those that do have devoted significant time, energy and effort to develop a niche market that will generate $$$...

Teaching may be your best bet at generating income quickly, even though you may not be prepared for that either...

Many professions are protected in Thailand and foreigners cannot hold those positions...

Chok Dee, you're going to need it...

In your position you have no choice: You MUST go home. As soon as you tell your 4 week-love that you are running out of money and have "to work in Thailand", she will drop you like a hot potato.

Hope you haven't burnt all your bridges back home.

Your story is not unique, happens every day. Your friend "from the bar" could have told you the same.

Cheers

I heard that another guy was doing pretty well out of I-phons from Germany, even got his girlfriends to front up the cash !!

Not sure a visa or work permit were required either ??

Worth a shot :)

OP, my best advise to you, go back home.

I believe you have already overstayed your visa and you will be needing 20K Baht to exit Thailand.

But everyday staying here you are risking the chance to get caught and thrown to prison before you get deported.

You are still young, go back to UK and get another job.

Plenty of time to be in Love and think of staying in Thailand.

That comes after.

Also a chnce for you to test the love of your life if she will be still faithful to you after you go, or she will be looking for the next love of her life the moment you are on that plane.

You have no chance, to get a job here.

So stop dreaming and arrange to get the money to go back home.

Good Luck.

Just remember this simple formula.

Bargirl + beauty salon = $$$

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Batgirl + Pattaya Beer Bar = Success + $$$$$$

Listen to the folks on here, please go home , as your visa will have ran out and the longer you stay the worse it will get, Thailand is great if you have an income or financial sources but if not, it's like everywhere else in the world....

Best of luck whatever you decide, Thailand won't be going anywhere soon, you can come back to live once your financial situation improves

Dear Khun Costas ... I just need to set the record straight about that photo.

I also was dissapointed.

You know the camera puts 20 kgs on you ... and the lighting was all wrong ... far to harsh.

I'm told I'm quite cuddly when viewed by candle light, and very hansum once I turn the lights off.

I am currently living in the UK and hate it, I think you should of planned your trip better if you wanted to stay in Thailand long term. I have been to Thailand a few times and have spent the past year planning to move to Thailand long - term.

Whatever you do never ever stay beyond the point where you do not have the airfare to get home.

Add to that visa overstay fee as and if necessary.

Thailand without cash in your pocket will turn rapidly from heaven to a brutal living hell.

I have been flying in and out of Thailand to renew my visa, I have been to Singapore and Cambodia. I know I cant keep doing this but I'm looking into getting a long term visa. Thanks for the advise, Ill keep that in mine.

Go home, earn money, come back on holiday and spend it.

Thailand is a shit place for a foreigner without money.

PS

You don't have a girlfriend, there is nothing special or lovable about you apart from your money.

Really you need a degree to teach, but dependent on where you are it can be done without one, but since you have already admitted that your English is not that good am not sure you will get a chance.

Go back to Blighty, and just come back on Holidays, also come back unexpectedly and see if she is alone or with someone else.

Hi sunnysmiths,

I think you should go to Cambodia - your Thai gf probably wont like it though so be prepared for that - I saw loads of bars for sale in Sihanoukville - real cheap and you can work in the bar legally, I did witness one get burnt down though after the barang owner got in an argument with a local... so think it might be a bit edgy living there as well.

Or you could work online there, maybe ebay if you are not very techy - or learn something like Google AdWords and try offering that to the UK as a service - if you are really desperate for money, you could join the website www.fiverr.com and earn $4 for doing little jobs for people.

I think you know all this though, thanks for the post sunnysmiths.

if you have a uni degree get a teaching job. Its very easy and lots of jobs out there

From what i have read here, it is easy even if you do not have any degree or experience or proficiency to teach. Just need to be a white westerner from a native english speaking country.
