Getting an Entry stamp or another Tourist Visa, What are my options?

Featured Replies

Hi there, having a bit of a last minute panic about the current visa situation and where I stand. I arrived on a multi-entry tourist visa 1 year ago from the UK, I have had various extensions and re-entries over the last 12 months mostly based on my 2 kids.

We are still in the process of getting married, but cant change to a O' this week in country due to lack of time on visa. I have had 1 tourist visa and a couple of re-entries followed by 60 day extensions.

Basically I need a couple more months to finalise the marriage. What are my chances of getting a re-entry stamp at a border this week and extending for 60 days again by going to immigration with my kids? The other option I am looking in to is getting another tourist visa, is this going to be possible?

Where would be best to get this sorted? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The best option would be to go to a nearby embassy or consulate and apply for a single entry non-o via based upon being the parent of a Thai child.

Vientiane will do one with only your child's birth certificate and a copy of their house book needed.

The visa would give you a 90 day permit to stay that you can extend for one year after you get married or for 60 days to visit your child.

I was hoping I could get another tourist visa, do you think this will be possible. I still making a decision as to whether I want to stay here long term, thus I am still a tourist and not 100% on settling long-term....

Financial proof is not needed to get a single entry non-o visa. The visa costs 2000 baht. With this visa and a 60 day extension you could stay for 5 months without leaving the country.

You could get a tourist visa. But if you want to get a one year extension you would still need a non-o visa to get it..

"Ubonjoe" if this is correct then I will do it. So basically i just get myself to Vientienne with the birth cert and house book and I will get a 90 day single entry which is extendable based on marriage?

Do I need to take anything else, life my wife to be or child... would that help?

Vientiane does the visa all the time with just the documents mentioned. Of course having your MIa and child with you would not hurt.

You can certainly get an extension of stay based upon marriage for the entry from the visa. If you do the 60 day extension first you can also get the one year at the end of it.

Thanks i will look in to that. May not be a great idea as my son is still getting over RSV.

Can you recommend the best way to make the trip? ThaiVisa Service or just make my own arrangements? I was hoping to go Friday night and most of them seem to go on Sunday.

Thanks again.

You can do it on your own. If you went on Friday you would have to wait until Monday to apply for your visa.

Arriving in Vientiane on Sunday and spending the night would be good so that you can be at the consular section early. Monday is the one of the busiest days there.

i think I better use one of the visa services looking in to it. He said something about needing signed copies of my wife's (to be) house book and ID card. Any catches to this, ink color, does it need to be approved, counter signed, stamped, authorised, translated, re-athorised, re-approved and blessed along with an affidavit. Or can I just get a couple of copies and get her to sign them??

Thanks

Signed and dated copies is all that is needed.

Ubonjoe....you are a fountain of knowledge with regards to visa's etc.

Respect!
