Hello, first of all let me say what a great service you are providing here. Thank you for that.

Now...

I have a non immigrant visa based on marriage. It expires 18 december 2014.

i Can renew this visa (or extend?) within 30 days before expiring if i understood correctly. I remenber when i first got the visa , it was not that easy.

I made sure,by calling immigration and checking the list on the immigration website, what papers to provide them with.

. Still when i got there i needed an extra paper wich i was not made aware of neither by calling immigration nor by chekcking the website of immigration.

This is not the biggest problem, but i only understood what to do because my wife was with me. Else i would not have understood what to do.\

Now my question is the following.

The nexttime when i have to renew, my wife won't be here in Thailand to assist me with this. I was wondering if it is possible to do this 2,5 months before expiring, because then i will be able to bring my wife.

Thank you so far

It is at the discretion of the immigration office. Have your wife call them and ask about it.

If you are getting an extension of stay based upon marriage to a Thai your wife has to be with you when you apply. She has to complete a statement and sign it.

I doubt very much they will do the extension 2 and a half months early.

hmm I guess then i will be forced to let my visa expire and apply for a new one back home.....Not the easiest way. let's hope the immigration will allow it . i see no other way. applying for a new visa can only be done in my homecountry i guess...?

tnx for the answer

Depends on your home country, some nationalities (Indians for Example) can only apply back home.

I think you can probably apply for a single entry non-o visa based upon marriage at any nearby embassy or consulate unless you are from a country that can only get visas of any kind in their home country.

You could talk to immigration to see if they would do a 60 day extension without your wife being with you.if she will here within that 60 days after your current extension ends.

From your reply I take it that I can get a sixty day extension prior to the 12 month for marriage?

My last non-o 90 days ends Aug05 but my money has lost its seasoning...

I hope to get 60 days which gives me the 3 months (req'd in Samui) and then apply end Sept for marriage extension.

From earlier posts I recall it is not possible to get two 60 day extensions to visit wife?

Perhaps Phuket only requires 60 days for the first extension since they are applying retirement extension rules to those based upon marriage.

A 60 day extension would give you more than 90 days from today if you did the extension because it would start on Aug. 5th.

You can only do one 60 day extension per entry. There is no rule that limits them to 2.

Thanks for the quick reply.

My mistake for wording it wrong regarding the number of extensions - I was trying to confirm that even though you are unable to get a second 60 day extension, you are allowed to extend for 12 months after the 60 days.

The non-o multi gives 15 months

One 60 day extension + 2 months

Marriage extension +12 months

Marriage extension +12 months

and so on...

There is no real benefit to doing it this way as far I see, but handy to know you can get the 60 days in between.

If you do the 60 day extension for your current permit to stay and then the one year extension you would not be able to get another 60 day extension next year because it would be the same entry that gave you the 90 days you have now.
