webfact Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Rice fraud verdict on Thaksin's aide dues todayBANGKOK: -- The Samut Prakarn provincial court is to hand down a verdict on a rice fraud case against a major rice exporter for his failure to deliver 200-million baht broken rice to Iran. The defendant, Apichat Chansakunporn, alias Sia Pieng, managing director of President Agri Co Ltd, and a close aide to ex- Premier Thaksin Shinawatra, was prosecuted by the Office of the Attorney-General on embezzlement charge during the Yingluck government when his company failed to deliver 20,000 tons of 5% broken rice to Iran. The Commerce Ministry has entered G2G contract to sell 5% broken rice to Iran and his company was granted right to “rebuild” 10% broken rice to 5% broken rice to ship to Iran at the port.In the rice export industry, exporter employed to rebuild the rice will earn margins from the price difference of the two grades of rices. But Sia Pieng failed to rebuild and ship the rice at the port twice causing the Thai government to be fined and had its deposits confiscated by Iran. The Office of the Attorney-General later filed legal case against him for embezzlement of the government’s rice which carries a maximum 3-year imprisonment if found guilty.Sia Pieng denied the charge and was earlier granted bail. The court is scheduled to hand down the verdict today on the case.Sia Pieng was earlier revealed by former Democrat MP Warong Dejkitvikrom of being a key man behind the rice pledging scheme and used to travel to China several times with ex-Premier Thaksin Shinawatra.(pic : file photo)Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/rice-fraud-verdict-thaksins-aide-dues-today/ -- Thai PBS 2014-06-24 1

Are we all guilty because we breath the same air. jayjayjayjay . . . you obviously can't read or simply refuse to accept what you do read as it's contrary to your own beliefs (that's called "denialism" by the way) . . . this has EVERYTHING to do with the Shinawatra's and their associates. "Sia Pieng was earlier revealed by former Democrat MP Warong Dejkitvikrom of being a key man behind the rice pledging scheme and used to travel to China several times with ex-Premier Thaksin Shinawatra." He didn't "win" the contract, he was "awarded" it by his friend Thaksin as part of the overall rice scam where they all benefited from skimming as will be revealed in the coming days, weeks, months. And no, "we" are not all guilty because we breathe the same air . . . only those that have knowingly and complicitly defrauded the entire country and its people, and one hopes that they will be found guilty and punished severely. 38

What a stupid and ignorant reply, of course this had EVERYTHING to do with being in the Shinewatra Clan. This man thought , that through his close relationship with the Desert Rat, he thought that he was untouchable. The times they are a changing... He will be the first of many. 5

Seems that all the ptp/thaksin supporters that were ignored by yl and her minions are now getting caught out, most definitely has a lot to do with the shins but if you are a one eyed thaksin/ptp/red supporter you just totally ignore the truth because its not what you want, you are in good company with the other shin lovers. There is a difference between being able to see and know the truth to being totally ignorant because of your bias. 11

FangFerang Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I'll wait for the court decision. If guilty, nail him hard. If not guilty, let him free. This court case is not going to change Thailand or TVF. People that say Thaksin is Lucifer who never had any positive policies will keep turning a blind eye to yellow depravities. People who think Thaksin is a saint just because he got elected will keep dissembling and shouting elitism. TIT -- after elections, here comes the new boss, same as the old bosses - At least the current leader so far is keeping his promises, which is more than can be said for any politician from my home country. I gave the General a B-, the Thais, according to a Dusit poll, gave him a B+.

So what.. still he got the contract because he was a friend of Taksin. Then what government int he world would pay for the mistakes of the seller. He messes up and the government pays compensation. Seems like a great way for graft. Just delivering inferior quality making sure you got the money and the government pays the fines. That he is prosecuted does not mean it was not a setup from the start, some things have to be prosecuted if they become public knowledge or else the damage would be too much. That is assuming that the government gave the order to prosecute.. not one of the independent institutes. 1
