Thanks for coming out

Great report with a lot of usefull tips for others to follow

This might help...

I did the same on Mon/Tues this week...I mean, double entry tourist visa with no problems ort questions (after back-to-back visa exempts, one by road and 2 by air).

Went by o/night sleeper from Bangkok....nice experience and cheap..about THB780 each way (2nd class aircon sleeper) and had a top end guest house (hot water, ensuite, wifi, excellent English speaking staff) for approx. THB1,050.

There are several 'agents' outside the consulate but you don't need them as other applicants will help you whilst you wait.

It took 2.5 hours for the application and payment part on Monday and the numbered queuing system is very fair - a couple of jumpers were firmly turned away.

The collection took about 30 minutes...from my experience both application and collection is probably quicker if you go towards the end of the time periods specified.

If anyone has any queries I'll try to help.

Good luck!o

I've just returned from Vientiane after successfully applying for my 4th b2b tourist visa. Despite a three hour wait to submit my application and a two hour wait on collection, everything was smooth and no questions asked. I did notice that a group of Korean students faced a long interrogation, as did a female Indian student but as a white westerner things were no problem.

One word of warning is that there is an increase in 'agents' to help you with the form filling and photocopying for 100b, which I wasn't too concerned about. The problem was that they appeared quite demanding to fast track your application and guarantee a visa for 5k. This is despite numerous signs on the building saying this can not be done. The 'agent' I dealt with suggested that I had too many stamps and would not get a visa unless I gave him 5k. I just playe.d dumb, repeated mai me baht several times until he grew frustrated and eyed another applicant. As mentioned, not a single problem once inside the consulate.

Thailand is desperate for tourists at the moment and, unless it's obvious you've been exploiting the system, or sadly not white or Russian, it seems there are few issues. This was summed up on my return to Thailand where immigration officers appeared

to be overly thorough with the black skinned African doctor arriving with his work permit and papers in order, whereas I received an exaggerated almost comedy salute from an immigration officer followed by the words 'you have a great day Sir', uttered with the insincerity of a tip-seeking American waitress.

For how many entries is your tourist visa?
