Offal in chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Does anybody know if it is possible to buy lambs liver in Chiang Mai. Have looked in Rimping and Tops but no success. Since lambs liver is not normally an item Thais would buy I have not checked Big C or Tesco.

My guess is that offal never leaves NZ or OZ. Just the frozen meat gets here.

Frozen pigs liver in Makro for 75bht/kg. If that's any help.

In the frozen meat section.

Makro great for frozen pigs, duck & chicken livers. And fresh (probably defrosted). Not many lambs here....

Northern Farms?

Thais I know don't care for the "strong" flavor of lamb as well as some Westerners. Sorry I can't be of more help but if you know a (high end) restaurant where it's served you could perhaps ask them.

Now I'm going to have to make liver, bacon & mushroom pie.

Next weeks little project.

My wife makes delicious duck liver pate...

ME I hope you haven't forgot that pâté bet you lost to me

Buy fresh pigs liver and soak it in milk for at least 12 hours, longer if possible. It is as near as you will get to lambs liver in Thailand.

maybe wrap it in a blanket as well............just for good measure.

There is a local company called Hamza (?) which used to have a store that sold butchered sheep and goats. I think they're still in business but the store closed. I think it's the same company that sells goat milk and goat milk yogurt. Maybe you could get their phone number off the package or google it.

Ask at the mosque. The muslims are into sheep and lambs. Often whole carcasses get roasted for parties.

i am same looked around for years cannot find as love and miss lambs fry and bacon tried all others and dont like but sounds interesting pig soaked in milk

cheers allan

I've bought a leg of lamb from Northern Farms which is why I suggested them. They have a shop somewhere, there is a thread on it from last year I think. Unless you prefer your stuff halal.

You could have worded that better.

Then into the airing cupboard for 48 hours. You'd never know the difference.

I should have been clearer. they slaughter lambs there so I assume they do have liver and other internal organs up for sale.

I saw some nice pork uterus in Rimping the other day.
