Filling Out TM7 & TM8 in Advance

Featured Replies

Just a couple of quick questions about filling out the TM7 &TM8 forms before going to immigration.

Should I sign the forms before going or is this something that needs to be signed in front of the immigration officer?

On the items we make copies of is there a specific place that it is preferred to be signed (bottom, top, along the side)?

Thanks,

Duck Duck

You sign them before you go.

I normally sign everything at the bottom of the page. But I don't think immigration has set place they want you to sign them.

As said sign in advance below the copies image on copies and for TM7 also include your phone number below signature on photo side of form.

Me too. Beware, though, that Immigration may get quite sniffy about A5 copies of passport pages and insist on A4 copies instead.

If you are downloading and printing the forms at home, be sure to print two-sided forms on two sides of a single sheet of paper. Two sheets of paper ─ one with the front of the form and one with the back of the form ─ are not acceptable.

Thanks all for your replies. I think I'm ready now.

I too complete and sign the forms before I visit Immigration. The only blank I leave unfilled is the date- some times plans change :)

I learnt that you should sign a form like this (affirmation of the truth of your assertions) in front of the person concerned. That's the way I do it. You have to be careful, because the last time I had the form taken away before I had signed it, the lady didn't understand why I wanted it back, even though I had shown with my finger that it wasn't signed.

Actually that indicates that Thai immigration wants the forms filled and signed before they are handed. Irrespective of your own logic or regulation in other places. Making the officer wait while you sign will make look like you're delaying the process, by not coming all ready to the desk.

Chonburi (Pattaya) Immigration will accept a two sided form being printed out on two sheets of paper -- I've been using two sheets of the extension of stay forms (one for front and one for back) for the past several years without any problem. But, acceptance is up to the Immigration Office, so the advice is good to follow unless you know from experience it is not necessary.

In Phitsanulok and before that Nan, I have always used single side paper. I have never put anything on two sides. Maybe I wasted paper, but nobody ever said a thing about it.

Just goes to show! Cholburi (Pattaya/Jomtien) was where my single-form-on-two-sheets-of-paper was rejected. By the same officer who sat at that desk for several years. He sat and watched as I filled in his double-sided form.

The TM-8 I down loaded from the Immigration web site this week was a "fillable and save" one sided MS Word doc. Accepted at Chiangmai immigration with no comment, except that I had not added my phone number.

I will be able to re-use this document any time I need another re-entry permit by simply changing the appropriate information.

Note: In case of any 2-pages form, please print out in one paper(front and back page).

The above is note at bottom of form download page (top right link) on the national immigration website.

You evidently are having formatting problems with the program you are using to open them.

If you download the PDF file you will not have a problem.

TM8: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/tm8.pdf

For others just click on the PDF logo on the immigration download page.
