2 men sought over Suthin killing

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- olice plan to seek arrest warrants for another two suspects allegedly linked with the killing of protest leader Suthin Taratin, who was shot dead while leading a rally against advance voting outside Wat Si-iam on Bang Na-Trat Road in January.

Assistant National Police chief Pol Lt-Colonel Chaiyong Keeratikachorn said yesterday that more suspects were identified after police inspected four 11mm cartridges.

Two of the cartridges were found in the pickup truck Suthin was riding in. Police have also inspected the bullet wound in the hand of another passenger in the same vehicle.

"Whoever possesses these guns would be a suspect in this case," Chaiyong said.

A source said the two suspects in question had close ties with a certain politician.

Investigation into Suthin's murder made no progress for six months, but as soon as the National Council for Peace and Order took control of the country, a team appointed to expedite the investigation arrested Thawatchai Promchan and another unnamed man in connection with the shooting.

How were spent cartridges found in the pick up Suthin was travelling in? That would indicate he was shot by those accompanying him, unless they flew with the bullets.

"Police have also inspected the bullet wound in the hand of another passenger in the same vehicle."

And the police outcome? <deleted>k me, a hole.

Regarding who was responsible some would have you believe their fanciful stories that would be make "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" seem like a book of non fiction.

PDRC guards, Suthep's men, 3rd hands, passengers, personal conflicts that had nothing to do with politics. Everything and anything except the most logical conclusion. The PTP and the UDD.

The National Police Office commissioner ordered the immediate investigation into the fatal shooting the day after it happened.

The deputy commissioner called an urgent meeting to expedite the investigation a day after it happened.

The deputy police commissioner order an investigation into whether there was any dereliction in duty by the local police force who were responsible for the security of the area.

Outcome? Nothing. Nada. Zero. 0. It all came to nothing. No one was found, but they could certainly talk the talk. Maybe this "certain politician" which I suspect begins with "C" did not want the police to come up with a break through. Maybe this certain person used to be a policemen? Maybe, not definitely. Maybe these suspects are actually and logically associated with the PTP or UDD? Maybe, not definitely. Or maybe as some suggested the suspects could be his wife's new love and this was a jealousy murder!!! (Silly really)

Of course the inconvenient truth is as per usual there was no progress for 6 months and then miraculously the police make a break through. Bit like the weapons finds break throughs after the 24th of May. So with no progress for 6 months while the PTP were in power one can be assured that this politician is not a DEM.

I also think that certain politicians will be sleeping badly now. If the suspects are out on bail, they might be attending their own funeral soon. The safest place for them now is in jail unless the politicians can arrange for an accident to happen there.

There was already an arrest warrant for one of the shooters who was on the same lorry as the victim for a long time, but the murderer disappeared.

Less than a week ago the victim's mother appealed for the progress in the investigation (there is a short topic on this forum, can be found by searching for 'suthin').

Now Thawatchai was aprehended, together with his helper, and started to talk which politician has ordered and paid them.

So far it looks like infighting within the protesting mob, so the name of the politician likely to be suthep. His name appeared already before in connection with this murder.

This infighting sheds a light on some 30 other murdered and 700 wounded during the mob protests. They were victims of the plot to overthrow the government and a military coup to introduce peace, order and reform of the electoral law. In military terms it's called "collateral damege". Suthep admitted some 3 weeks ago that such plot existed since 2010, when is was clear, that the reds will win yet another election.

You really believe all the violent attacks and murders carried out during the anti-Thaksin protests, were carried out by protesters on themselves to show PTP/UDD in a bad light? Really?

And you think anyone will believe you?

Hmmm. Wonder if the British Army blew up the pubs in Birmingham to show the IRA in a bad light. 9/11 - CIA then. facepalm.gifblink.png

ps - some of the suspects for the notorious Trat killings have been arrested. Do you think they will be anti-Thaksin protesters too?

They are just countering your fiction.. so far most deaths and even the slaughter of children in Trad have been attributed to the reds. Now you come with a story that this is infighting and all the other anti government protesters were also killed by their own.

But you fail to understand that the caches of weapons found with the reds have been tested positive to match for instance the Trad massacre and others.

A side who kills children obviously would have no problem doing other bad stuff.

I will wait about the infighting and see what comes from this but to use this to whitewash already proven kills by the reds is crazy.

Thawatchai Promchan, charged with shooting Sutin Tharatin, is a Core Leader of the anti-government Peoples Army and Energy Reform Network (PAERN) which aligned with PDRC in it's rallies against the government.

What is curious is that he was already subject to an arrest warrant for rallying at the Energy Ministry HQ (an illegal gathering and creating social disorder). He had been arrested on February 12th and then granted bail as long as he did not "instigate chaos or violence again" (that didn't go too well, obviously)

CMPO committee member Tharit Pengdit declared that arrest warrants had been granted by the Criminal Court for Dr Ravee Maschamadol, Mr Tossapol Kaewthima and Mr Thawatchai Promchan, all of whom were core leaders of the People’s Army and Energy Reform Network. The investigative officers previously requested the warrants on claims that the three had staged an illegal gathering of more than ten persons and were provoking social disorder from their demonstration in front of the Energy Complex. Mr Tharit affirmed that police would attempt to apprehend the individuals at haste.

The three had rallied at the Energy Complex before and were captured along with five others during a police operation on February 18 to reclaim the area. All of them were later released on bail, with a condition that they must not instigate chaos or violence again.

How astounding .

Now there has been a change in police manipulation management there actually seems to be action across the board as opposed to selective action concerning illegal unlawful acts.

Would this current and hopefully ongoing reaction suggest that undue influence was being applied to the police farce force by the preceding administration membership some of whom are now somewhat conspicious by their ''absinthe'' abscence? whistling.gif

These are very important issues finally being addressed so I think we all need to focus on these and respect the people who are at last taking on very mean and violent criminals.

Whining about your visa, bar closing times or a fine for not wearing your helmet kind of pales into insignificance compared to this stuff.

The crimes are unacceptable in any society but worse is the apparent belief that they can escape justice because they have connections.

Are we going to turn this into a red v yellow thing? How about we accept it as the beginning of a return to a fair and just society. I agree there is a long road ahead.

Tawatchai Promchai was charged and an arrest warrant issued on March 18 after the previous police management found enough evidence to charge him and that was way before the coup. There was already action before the change of police by the junta. Don't assumed things at face value.

I think you will find that Mr Thawatchai Promchan was arrested by the very same police that were being controlled by Chalerm, CAPO and the Yingluck administration, and we all know exactly how honest and un-biased THEY were.

He was a scapegoat and was arrested with zero evidence and the fact that he was also injured in the shooting makes it almost retarded to amuse he was the shooter while he was actually being shot at himself.

I think you need to return to fairyland, because your attempted twisting of the reality of the issue is almost laughable if it weren't so serious.

Let's see what comes of these arrests with ACTUAL evidence, and I think you will find that the real killers will be unmasked as red shirt UDD hitmen working for Yingluck.

Are you for real? sad.png

"Suthin Taratin was a Thai opposition leader, one of the "core leaders" of the anti-government movement, a vocal opponent of exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his sister, current Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra."

"...., Suthin was murdered by an unknown gunman, alleged to be a "Red Shirt" supporter of the government. Suthin was leading a group of protestors who were trying to block access to a polling station when a group of Red Shirts, who wanted the polling station to remain open, confronted the Suthin's group. Shots were fired Suthin was hit twice and died before reaching the hospital."

Amusing to see the PDRC fanboys doing a switcharoo from denouncing non action by previous police and trying to cast the Reds as the perpetrator to trying now to accuse the current police of finding a scapegoat. Amusing when facts are revealed.

Could you explain just where I am twisting reality in my post above.

If I am not mistaken it includes two paragraphs of a news article that I have provided a link for. The same information is available from the Bangkok Post but due to Forum rules I am not allowed to provide that link. I mentioned that Thawatchai Promchan, the subject of the arrest warrant for the shooting of suthin, is a Core Leader of the PAERN and that they were involved in sutheps rallies against the former government - Fact. You cannot dispute that or accuse me of "twisting reality".

I also mentioned that he had been previously arrested by the Police but was released on bail provided he did not "instigate chaos or violence again", a fact borne out by the article I provided and the Bangkok Post. You cannot dispute that or accuse me of "twisting reality".

Your reply that Thawatchai Promchan "was a scapegoat and was arrested with zero evidence and the fact that he was also injured in the shooting" is backed up by................,

just what exactly? Because you say so?

It appears the junta disagree with you, from the OP, "as soon as the National Council for Peace and Order took control of the country, a team appointed to expedite the investigation arrested Thawatchai Promchan and another unnamed man in connection with the shooting".

I look forward to you backing up your accusations with some "reality", especially the one about Yingluck and her UDD Hitmen.................coffee1.gif
