I have the choice of a 9 month old 1.2 March, or 18 month old 1.5 Yaris. Both 2013 automatic models.

March 20k km.

Yaris 35k km.

90% of time would be BKK city driving, school runs.

As I understand it the 1.2 3cyl March will be cheaper to run (kmpl), and also cheaper to service, cheaper insurance etc.

But the 1.5 4cyl Yaris will have less stress on the engine and last longer (and also be better on the highway for weekends away and bi-annual holidays)

Sound about right with regards to longevity and running costs??

Does anyone have info on comparative kmpl, and average annual service costs for each?

Thanks.

Your analysis is mostly correct. I have a Mitsubishi mirage and the wife's family have a Toyota Vios. They are pretty similar on the road. The vios is a bit more peppy and slightly better seats etc.. the old saying "up to you " if the same price I would say Yaris.

...you can get a new Yaris for that,almost...it starts at 519K smile.png

I think he means total price including finance charges.

Interest is always higher on second hand cars....and there is a big difference between 'old' and 'new' Yaris,so probably better to pay just a little bit more and get a brand new design car... :)

Yep you're right the 'new ' Yaris is an oversized eco car with a 1200cc engine. The old one had the 1500cc.

Are you trying to say, that the 'old' Yaris for 515K is better deal than the new bigger and more economical model for 519K ?

No need for these arguements, thanks.

I'm sure that if bought on finance the new, longer, lesser powered model is more than the listed cash price you quote.

Either way, off topic. smile.png If you want to discuss the old Yaris prices on finance verses the new underpowered yaris bought for cash, then start a thread on it. :)

Geez, it's up to me? Honestly?

Thanks for that insightful and outright educational piece of information. I thought it was up to Somchai the bin man who collects the binbags trice a week.
