BANGKOK, 9 July 2014 (NNT) –The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor has directed Thai section chiefs in foreign countries to make known Thailand's policy on the elimination of human trafficking.

Mr.Jirasuk Sugandhajati, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, announced that section chiefs stationed in 13 countries are to promulgate the policy of the junta to completely reorganize and document the influx of laborers from neighboring countries, who wish to work in Thailand.

Section chiefs will especially address the concerns of the USA, which this year ranked Thailand on the lowly Tier 3, in its list of countries making progress in dealing with human trafficking problems.

The US Department of Labor has listed the Thai products which it believes are produced using either forced labor or child labor. The goods listed include clothing, shrimp, sugar cane, and fishing industry products.

The Ministry of Labor is currently outlining to international organizations the well considered human trafficking solutions newly implemented in Thailand, following the policy of the military junta.

the only thing we can do, is a petition to Europe/Usa to create a 4-tiers list. Maybe they will start to take it more seriously!

Gee , what a advanced society Thailand is, the department of Labour is notifying section chiefs in foreign countries ,on the policy involving human trafficking, that's like New Zealand advising all station chiefs, their policy on Human trafficking, what I am saying you've got to be joking, Thailand has along way to go, you do not do the Asian or the International community any favours when you have to do this , the scum that walks your highways is putrid to the bone, something TAT obviously chooses to ignorebah.gif .

It would seem they are now being prodded into at least verbal action.

The previous minister was always to busy with other more important things, of course he may not have known what human trafficking was.

Thai show and tell. These bureaucrats pictured above are part of the problem not the solution. They should be ashamed of themselves and the military dictatorship should purge them out and put well trusted colonels in the jobs.

No mention of the sex trade, where human trafficking is rife. Oh, sorry - forgot . . . prostitution is illegal and therefore doesn't exist in Thailand.

According to Reuters, the military is already involved in human trafficking - albeit in a shameful way. Can the military purge itself or just find more targets to sue for slander?
