Are there exceptions to the 30-day early retirement extension

Featured Replies

My retirement extension is due in Oct. Because of a serious medical issue with a family member in the US, I would like to travel now, but not sure how soon I will be back. I know immigration will normally extend a retirement visa 30 days early. And I seem to recall reading of someone who extended even earlier because of some medical emergency.

I'm trying to get my ducks in line in case I have to get back to the US quickly. I believe immigration will be closed tomorrow. I'd prefer to have some idea of whether immigration would entertain renewing me a full 90 days early. Anyone out there with any knowledge?

Some offices do 45 days early with no special reason needed. Name your office for details. As far as 90 days early, no, I have never heard that being allowed in any office. So I would think that is going to be very unlikely even with a very good reason. As you know, you can start over. My personal opinion is that with a very good excuse some offices MIGHT do 60 days early, but wouldn't count on that either. But nobody here can guarantee that for you; you'd have to try it yourself.

Each Imigration region runs on different rules. Your best bet is to ask your local Thai Immigration office. Explain to them your predicament.

I don't think you will be able to get it done that early. The most I ever heard of was 60 and that was long ago.

A the moment many offices allow 45 days.

You could try but immigration will not be open until Tuesday.
