You will need a letter from ther UK Embassy stating that you are "free to marry".. I don't know exactly what they requrie as far as proof od you past marriage being terminated due to the death of yor wife. You then have to have the letter translated into Thai and certiied by the MFA in Laksi. Many of the translation services will also handle the certification for you. You then take the letter, along with your GF, with all of her paperwork, to the local Amphur office and do the dastardly deed!

I've been married to a Thai for 16 years and have lived here the whole time. We love to hate each other I guess! I do a retirement extension since I quit working because I qualify and it requires less paperwork and is easier.

It's really that simple.

Sorry to hear the OP's first wife passed away.

I think he is going to need a death certificate to prove his previous marriage has ended.

This second link provides an email contact for the British Embassy Consular sections in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

If the OP want's to accomplish this in one day I recommend using the translation service to do the Thai ministry of foreign affairs (MFA) certification. They do it and send you the documents by EMS a few days later.

As said once you get the affirmation of permit to marry done at the UK embassy or consulate you need to have it translated and certified by MFA.

The certification of the translation can be done at MFA in Chiang Mai. The translation service should be able to do this for you for an additional fee.

I suggest you have the death certificate translated to Thai in case it is asked for by the Amphoe. It should not require certification by the MFA,

Once you married you will need to get a single entry non-o visa in order to apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage. You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only for 60 days or proof of 40k baht income to get the extension.

If you cannot meet the financial requirements for the extension you could go to Savannakhet Laos for a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage.
