Do You Have A Best Buddy In LOS?

My best buddy in LOS is my wife.

I have drinking buddies, talking buddies, walking buddies but none compared with the connection and friendship I have with my wife.

Well it's just about impossible to have any serious conversation with a Thai so i can't see how the wife could be your best friend. Coming from totally different backgrounds , cultures and levels of education it's just not possible. I've never met a Thai in 11 years who would be capable of an in depth conversation. The wife ... lol , my misiss is as thick as two short planks. She's a great girl but not my best mate. More like a great shag and treats me like a Roman Prince.

The username says it all.

You just judged 6o million odd people, putting them all in one category. Who are you, Hitler reincarnated?

I really don't think it's your wife who's thick.

Hitler? An odd comparison indeed. One best left out IMO.

Sad, very sad...

Not at all, it's funny.

I have a good friend from a European country who speaks English, Thai and German. We do not drink together but I go visit him at his home. I trust him completely and confide in him. I do not seek out other foreigners here. I have come to live in another country and want to make it my home.

But I have many friends here. Most of them are Thai. I speak a little rudimentary Thai and that is important for establishing relationships. The more my language develops, the more my friendships grow. I use a small pocket guide to Thailand which has ready phrases. My Thai wife ( married in the temple) and daughter help me establish relationships. Being good to people and helping them is also very important. We do not know how long we will be here so help while you can.

What is sad is the seriousness of many posters. And, if you consider your wife your best friend well then you're probably on the feminine side, not that theirs anything wrong with that.

I think its sad that you think someone who is best friends with their wife is feminine. I'd say that any man who has women as best friends is very much masculine.

Also any man who doesn't think of his wife as a best friend is definitely in the relationship for the wrong reason.

I also question why anyone would marry someone with whom they can't have proper deep conversations with, unless of course she won Miss Thailand or something.

If I understand correctly what you are saying is that for a "Man" to have his wife as a best friend He must have feminine traits ?

What is your evidence for this statement?

I do not argue the point you make but am very interested in why and on what basis you have come to that conclusion

Ask the wives the very same question, Do you seriously think they will claim the husband to be their best friend.

The wives (If we are talking Isaan ladies, and I'm generalising a bit) most likely married the farang because they wanted "man look after me". From their perspective I can understand why they married the bloke.

But I don't understand why a Western bloke would marry someone with whom he can't communicate 100% unless (as I said before) the woman is seriously good looking.

I've been lucky in that I have made some very good friends here through sports clubs initially and some of my old University friends are working here now as well.I have also got some good work colleagues which is also great. Met some good people to from TVF. Some people just find it easy to socialise and make friends.

I think a bigger question is what is the criteria to determine they are a "Best Buddy". Is it trust, communication, commitment, not judgemental, etc

I mean clearly I trust my wife without question if not I would not have married her. I have "Guy" friends that I will vent to about things but that is healthy. I never talk to any friend about my financial situation or if I might be having relationship troubles. I talk sports, fishing, different alcohols I prefer, house upgrades, where our next moto ride will be, places to go etc etc.

So I consider my wife my best friend as I confide in her with all of that.

I do not fair well around guys that talk harshly about their wives/Gf's or get out to gawk at other woman and skirt chase. I never support cheating and never will. Something fundamentally wrong with it. But hey that's me.

I don't think having your wife as your confidant and friend makes you feminine. Just like I don't think hanging around with the guys makes you masculine. There are lots of gay men that hang around with straight men and they are as feminine as a guy can be.

Interesting thread........

A best buddy and a friend are not the same. A best buddy is truely like a brother.

You actually sound normal and the feminine remark was strictly for wind-up effect.

Yes, I do know that, and I also have a couple of what I would call very close friends who fit that description.

Not necessarily. My brother's last comment to me was "I hope you die soon". I certainly wouldn't want a best buddy to be like my brother!!!
