Hopefully he’ll use a newspaper next time.

SEATTLE: -- A West Seattle resident accidentally torched his rental home after attempting to kill a spider with a lighter and a can of spray paint, KOMO reports.

Eventually the raging flames were extinguished, but the home suffered thousands of dollars’ worth of damage, reports the New York Post.

The man told fire officials he was trying to get rid of a spider lurking in his laundry room — and inadvertently lit his wall on fire when he got creative with the spray paint and lighter.

As the fire started spreading, he fled the house, leaving the spider — which may or may not still be alive — behind.

All told, it will cost a whopping $US40,000 to repair the house and another $US20,000 to replace the incinerated objects inside, fire officials said.

Hopefully the spider survived to enhance the Seattle gene pool.

What a complete <deleted>.

On Thai TV news this morning, caught the end of a story about an older woman up North who was bit by some spider last night and is near death apparently, according to my mrs.

Some people are deathly afraid of insects...especially spiders...

Had an auto mechanic refuse to work on my car because he thought he saw a spider under the hood...

I cant believe you could be so stupid, Then again it was a rented house.

As this happened in the country where you can sue everybody else for your own stupidity, the next news will probably be that he is suing (I) the producer of the paint and the shop selling it, because they did not warn him not to do what he did with that product and (ii) similarly the producer and the vendor of the lighter. In addition to the damages, they will of course also have to compensate him for the emotional distress and anguish he suffered. I'd say 1 million USD sounds about right.

in other news...

HUTCHINSON , Kan., June 27 (UPI) --A Kansas woman is facing arson charges after she allegedly set a small fire in her home early on Friday morning while trying to kill a spider.

According to the Hutchinson News, Ginny Griffith used a cigarette lighter to set some towels on fire in an attempt to assassinate the arachnid.

Five Hutchinson Fire Department units were able to extinguish the small fire in Griffith's half of a duplex. Firefighters found multiple points of origin for the fire and Griffith was arrested and charged with aggravated arson because the other half of the duplex was occupied.

No one was injured and the structure only suffered light smoke damage.

Rock spider? Death????

Sounds sus to me.

Not likely one burst of paint into a lighter could ignite a wall. Brick or gypsums not flammable so to burn the house down would take a huge burst.

Didnt this happen in america,?why didnt he shoot it..lol

Jealous? We all know if country x had its a$$ in a sling who 95% of the world would call. I love checking fools in CM that talk out of their backside about America. It's not perfect but most cowards turn their head.

I guess that's what he thought as well, are ye related by any chance.

What a dummy. Everyone knows never to use a can of spray paint with a lighter. Hairspray is much better!

Just wondering what the spider said in an interview....Som Nam Na?
