Just found my contract is not being renewed......what becomes of Non-B Visa

Hi there

The school I have been working for has just informed that they are not renewing my contract (a week before school starts). I have a Non-B visa through them which is to go until May, 2015. I am supposed to have my 90 day report on August 18, 2014.

Can anyone give me some advice on what I do here?

You appear to have an extension of say based upon teaching from immigration not a visa. You mention doing 90 day reports (they renew nothing) which you would not be doing if you had a visa.

Your extension of stay ends when your job ends meaning you must leave the country or apply for a 7 day extension when you cancel your extension. The school should give you.a letter stating the date your ends and you need to on that date or shortly before.

You or your school also need to cancel your workpemit.

I'm in a similar situation (I think), I changed the job location so don't work in Thailand anymore but still not far from Thailand.

My WP was canceled and my Non-B visa expires in November this year. Since then I left and came back a few times using this visa and there were no problems.

I'm currently working on getting Non-O based on marriage.

If you really have a Visa then you should be OK until then, just need to get your extensions every 90 days??

Do you have a VISA or an Extension of Stay? There is a huge difference.

I am guessing you have an extension of stay. What ubonjoe wrote is correct. Follow his advice.

Mate - if you have a WP they will cancel this - and with it goes your extension of stay. You can get a 7 day extension for 1900 baht then you have to leave.

Nothing to do with 90 day reports.

Unless you have been leaving the country every 90 day you do not have a valid visa. Your visa probably only allowed a single 90 day permit to stay on entry and expired 90 days from it's date of issue. You then went to immigration with paperwork from your school and applied for an extension of that 90 day permit to stay.

Check your passport and you will find an extension of stay stamp.

It sounds like you have a multiple entry non-b visa you got from an embassy or consulate that gives you a 90 day entry every time you enter the country.

I have this stapled in my passport. Everything is written in Thai on the stamps but I can make out NON-B which is in English.

It sounds like you have a multiple entry non-b visa you got from an embassy or consulate that gives you a 90 day entry every time you enter the country.

Yes it's non B multiple entry.

OP, see the attached examples from my passport.

The 1st stamp is what I was getting in previous years, just a stamp. The second one is the most recent that I'm currently using.

That is the extension of stay stamp.

Immigration don't transfer visas what you now is a stamp with annotations about your visa entry and permit to stay the visa gave you,

You could go out and get a tourist visa that would give you time to find another job.

You can re-enter after getting a different type of visa. If you qualify for a visa that allows you to stay long time, you could continue living here, if not then get a tourist visa which should give you enough time to sell your possessions and leave properly.

Leave and go visit a Thai Consulate for another visa - whichever is appropriate for you to stay here legally.

I suppose you can ask at immigration when you go get your 7 day extension for their "opinion" note : not guarantee

Do you have your old passport? If you have it and if you sure you had a proper visa in it, you could use that passport in conjunction with your new passport to enter (if it other than a single entry visa). Us Canadians have an option to keep our expired passports, not sure about you though.

You will not have a problem getting a tourist visa and entering with it. You could do a border run for an exempt entry but I think you will want to stay longer than that.
