In one of the episodes of "Lost" there was a blatant product placement in which one of the survivors was trying to break into a Zero Halliburton briefcase. No matter what he did to it he could not force it open. It resisted high drops, poundings with coconuts and countless other keyless attempts.

Yes, these suitcases are Zero Halliburtons. They have served me well. The oldest is more than twenty years old and the youngest is at least going on ten.

The hotel stickers (*)? They serve a double purpose. For starters they announce themselves on the airport arrivals carrousel...I don't have to check the luggage tag to know that the suitcase is mine. Also, I think that their presence makes it less likely that the suitcases will get lost in transit between connecting flights...in an airport-sea of gray Samsonites these guys scream out "Here I am! Make sure I make my connection!" When I was younger and single they also doubled as chic-magnets.

(*) Once common world-wide, hotel stickers are now rarely found in North America. Even European hotels are phasing them out. But, they are still common in Africa and South America. And no self respecting Asian hotel would not be without them.

Glad to hear it, I thought maybe I was missing something there! :o

But I like your idea better than mine, I put strips of silver duct tape on my suitcases so that I can always spot it on the carousel. Hotel stickers look much nicer.
