Driving license

Featured Replies

My daughter and son-in-law will be visiting us here in Pattaya. They both have UK driving license. What car driving license do they need to drive here during there visit?

International driving permit from home.

Just asking:

They know what to expect on Thailand (Pattaya) roads?

They are experienced with driving in such a chaos?

All they need is their home license with photo, IDP is NOT required.

If the UK they are issued with a 'licence' and that will suffice. If really worried, they can get an International Driving Permit from, I think, just about any UK Post Office, though they look like something concocted on a bad day in Khao San Rd.

I have checked the websites of the rental companies.

And yes, if the foreign driving license is in English language (as is in this case) it is OK for tourists.

For licenses in other languages you better get an IDP.

Yes they are aware of our traffic as they have been here many times over the years. They want to do a bit of self drive this time so just confirming my thoughts. Thanks all.
