My first time flying a low fare airline was with Nók out of Nakhon Si Thammarat. I have, however, been many times on other low fare transport; like buses in Mexico and other third world countries, where humans are often in the minority.

So last week at the airport, when the very attractive Nók check-in agent dazzled me with a smile and a question, I immediately had images pop into my head, and started having second thoughts about boarding my impending flight to Bangkok.

“Do you have any chicken luggage, sir?”

“Uh … well, no,” I said, lifting my suitcase onto her scales.

“No? What is that, sir?” she said, frowning at the very same bag.

Surely this is not a thread making fun of Thai pronunciation?

.

No. It's a thread on how westerners jump to conclusions.

Like you.
