My Thai wife and I are planning on moving to Thailand for retirement in November and I will need to apply for a new non-immigrant "O" visa before we leave the UK.

In he past I have always had this in my British passport, but looking at the new passport service reports on the third party there seem to be a lot of complaints. My limited experience with the British embassy in Bangkok has been neither here nor there, and I would like to ask members their views on the service they have received from either the British or Canadian embassies.

Also, the eventual goal would be to apply for the (legendary?) PR status after three years. Would the passport make any difference in this process?

Thanks,
Andy.

You will not qualify for PR with an extension based upon retirement. You must be working here with a work permit and paying taxes for at least 3 years,

It make would make no difference which countries citizenship you used unless it reached the 100 PR's issued quota for each country.

Thanks Ubonjoe. That reduces the question to one of which embassy provides the better service. Much appreciated!

Canadian Embassy great, reply to emails, new passports to your door in 12 days.    Always good service.

Thanks Colabamumbai.
