Wanted to do a full physical and heard the hospitals here run tests for cheaper than in the states. Know which hospital is most affordable while also being very thorough.

Quality same (same doctors) but Vichara have 2 wait in line 4 bout 2_3 hours. No bkk hospital these are not quotes but actual bills

There is a new hospital being built on Chaofa west road on the LHS before house and

home driving north, it will be interesting to see what they charge when it opens

I wouldn't trust Patong hospital to take my temperature let alone do anything related to medicine, are you mad!

A few years ago, I took my then 4 year old to Patong Hospital for some dental work. Never take your kid there for dental work.....NEVER. Nothing short of a butcher shop.

As I went to pay the bill the nurse said, "you have to take care", pointing to the right side of her mouth, "you have something". Confused I left, further questioning was useless.

Two years on in Chiang Mai my dentist tells me I need a root canal and crown, why hadn't I had my teeth cleaned and checked asked Dr Varaporn at CM RAM, a lady who had given me a clean bill of health just before I moved to Phuket.

I found out that this doctor had his own clinic in Karon (Karon Clinic) which was much easier for me to attend. He charges me only 200 baht for his time, I am embarressed to pay so little, but how do you tip a doctor ?

Probably the same guy. Dr. Chusak (sp) in Kata recommended him. Another really good 200 Baht doctor! Thankfully, I don't have rheumatoid condition. I had chronic gout and chikungunya, which finally went away after a bit over three years. off topic but; chikungunya has spread to the Caribbean Islands and I've read it's made it all the way to the USA from it's origins in Africa and Asia. I caught it in Rawai.

You had your teeth cleaned and 2 years later a dentist says you need root canal work and a crown.

You didn't go to a dentist for 2 years, presumably had no discomfort and the tooth problem was entirely the responsibility of the new, shy female dentist?

There was a cleaning every year, at the same dentist suite, although I didn't think it necessary to state that, there was no negative findings. When I returned to CM Dr Varapron said she saw something which needed to be xrayed, when she did so she found the inside of the tooth had rotted/decayed hence the need for the root canal and crown. No xrays were taken or requested in Phuket.

I remember paying 700 baht at a clinic and thinking it was a steal.

I will comment that my son had an X-ray at Phuket International last year and about 2 minutes later, it showed up in the doctor's office on his computer.
First time I had seen that technology.

Once I had an x-ray taken at Krabi hospital and the nurses all started laughing when the young doctor (looked to be about 18 years old) hung it upside down on the light thing.

On topic with costs:

I regularly see 3 or 4 specialists at Bangkok Hospital (including a Rheumatologist) and pay either 800 or 1000 baht each visit. With extras, they do charge for every needle, syringe, bandage, etc. It adds up.

Drugs there cost a fortune and should be bought elsewhere at every opportunity.

First I quit drinking, then changed my diet, and started taking Allopurinol. Now my my uric acid is very low, so no more gout. By the way, beer is the worst you can drink if you have gout.
