Songran whitewash stained my Pcx

So during songran this year my wife slathered both bike and car (as apparently everyone in thailand does) with a whitewash made from some kind of perfumed powder mixed with water.

When washed off, car and bike no problem; except the windshield of the bike (plastic) which is still stained. Any suggestions of how to remove? Or just replace and lesson learnt?

Cheers!

I have used a plastic cleaner/polish made by McGuires. Used it on a plastic car window and did an OK job.

The same stuff is used on airplane windows I was told.

No idea if it's sold in Thailand though.

Wow polishing airplane windows-that,s one hell of a dangerous job facepalm.gif

The best thing to do as you say above is just replace the wife.
I hope you've learned your lesson.

P.s You could also probably get a new screen too.

I nearly spat my coffee out lmao :D

Ideally you need 'Polywatch' - this with a cloth and effort will polish out the plastic screen. Its relatively expensive (for a liquid polish) and possibly hard to find in Thailand. But as a second option get a tube of 'wenol' metal polish (prevalent in Thailand any hardware shop) apply the same cloth/effort regime

;)

polish with toothpaste

Toothpaste can polish!... Easy to understand, I will not forgetthumbsup.gif

Yes, it does polish, but, it will make transparent things opaque because of all the micro-scratches (except glass as it's harder than the tooth-paste granules).

They do wait until the plane has leveled out to throw the dirty water over the screen and offer to wash it.

I second toothpaste not on a sheet of cloth but a thick bunched up pad of cotton cloth or cotton waste if you can get it.

Carefully and lightly so it does not scratch the plastic. This idea has been around for years and is also useful for cleaning headlights that are not glass, on many modern motor vehicles, once the lens has that "cloudy" look.

I am reading many suggestions for tooth paste or Brasso. My suggestion is to NOT use anything porous otherwise it Matt scratch.

My suggestion would be to use Ammonia. If that doesn't remove it then I would try Vinager or a Citrus such as Orange or Lemmn.

Good luck!

The headlight covers on my Vigo have gone cloudy , when some one has tried all these products post the results please

I would pay a company to polish them. But if you want to do it your self then start with 500 wet and dry then 1000, 2000, 4000 then go on to a polish then finaly a wax. You will find youtube videos detailing the steps.
