Police find cannabis in high place

CAMBODIA:-- A joint force of local and provincial police in Kampot on Friday burned down more than 1,000 marijuana plants growing on the side of a mountain, according to an official involved in the operation.

In Sokhorn, chief of staff at the Kampot provincial police department, said the plants were discovered on Nak Ta mountain in Teuk Chhou district’s Stung Keo commune. No one has been arrested and the police have no suspects yet, Sokhorn added.

The thick and difficult to access woods shielded the plants from view, though Sokhorn did not say how the police discovered them.

“After the crackdown, police kept tracing the place for a few days to target the owner of the marijuana plantation, but we have not targeted the owner yet since it is located in the deep forest about 20 kilometres away from the road,” Sokhorn said.

He described the plants as relatively short in height, leading him to believe that they had not been in the ground that long.
