Hi, silly questions and I probably know the answer but I have a double entry tourist visa, received 26th June in Laos. Now the first has been activated and I am due to renew the second on or before 24th August. Am I right in saying that all I need to do now is a border run for immigration to stamp the passport, no need to stay in Laos? and can this be done on the Saturday 23rd or do I have to go during the week?..

Also I believe the max is 180 days, maybe i'm missing the point but each visa lasts for 60 days so 120 total. Where is the other 60 days from. Im sure its been asked before but I need an answer as soon as.

I am also engaged to a Thai and we want to get married here in BKK. As I understand I need an affirmation of freedom form, about 10000B for the consulate ( 3640 initial fee, another 3640 for no intention form and 1960 for the registrar witness). I also want to study Thai and the cheapest course I have seen including a 1 year ed visa is 24960B.

Just a few questions but your help is appreciated!

And who said Thailand was cheap...not for farangs!

thanks

I forgot to mention is it still 400000B in a Thai bank account that you are required to show the authorities when applying for a marriage certificate?

whistling.gif  Ehen you enter on either entry of a double entry visa you get a "permission to stay" stamp for a 60 day stay.

Before that permission to stay expires you can go to your local immigration and get a 30 day extension  for a fee of 1900 Baht.

The extension will automatically be added on to your visa entry

You can do that on both entries.

That means you can get:

60 days on first entry...............60 days

1st extension ..........................30 days

60 days 2nd entry....................60 days

2nd extension..........................30 days

total,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.180 days

Just make sure both you entries are started BEFORE the 180th day from issue of the visa.

You can do the same thing with a triple entry visa but you have to be careful there because on a triple entry all THREE entries must be made before the 180th day.

For a triple that basically means your 3rd entry must be made before the 180th day/ (Make your 3rd entry on the 179th day to be sure).

why not getting 30 day extension ?

1900B and you don't have to leave the country,

when 30 days are up, you can go to the border to start your 2nd entry.

that's what I do to get the most days out of x2 entry TV.

and when you 2nd 60 days are over, you can get 30 days extension again.

ALL ADDED to be 180 days.

Just make sure you enter the country for the 2nd entry before "ENTER BEFORE" date on your visa.

I think your tourist visa question has been answered. Just get a 30 day extension before the 24th at immigration. Then do a border run to start you 2nd entry before the enter before date on the visa sticker.

There is no financial requirement to get married of any kind.

The 400k baht is to get an extension of stay at immigration after you get married.

What embassy are you going to be using the numbers you quoted are high for any i have seen.

I have never heard of a registrar fee. To register you marriage only costs 40 baht.

After have the affirmation of permit to marry it has to be translated to Thai and then be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This should not cost any more than 2000 baht total at the most.
