I want to talk about Jack Watts. How the system failed him, number 1 pick walked into a disaster club right after an earthquake, the guy never had a chance, Roos found him a position floating across the centre and half back lines intercepting, they guy could hit bulls eye with a high % rating, then Goodwin comes in and that was that. If your a quarterback you don’t want to get drafted by the Jets, it’s a place that you go to die, the toll on Sam Dearnold took 6 ys to work through as a journey man before the superbowl win, Trengrove thrown in as captain year 3, scully had the good sense to bail asap, poor Jack never had a chance. Loved Jim Stynes but he was the president when they decided to gut the team, only Adem Yze escaped the knife, he retired a year or two later, the parallels are very similar to North, it makes my blood boil still… Anyway Jack should have started on a wing, was god dam obvious, Roos knew that, no pressure, instead centre half forward first game against the Pies, cooked the guy. Roos, Dipper, Van Den Harr started careers on a wing tall quick future key position players, Hawks had a habit of this I’m sure Dermie did too… Anyway too much time on my hands… jack popped into my mind, waste of a talent, never was trained correctly just a crap club, for 50 years. King just might make us something…..
