Supreme Court rejects Thaksin's suit against assets panel

BANGKOK: -- The Supreme Court Thursday upheld the Criminal and Appeals courts' decision to reject a lawsuit filed by former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his divorced wife, Khunying Potjaman Na Pombejra, against the Assets Examination Committee.

The Supreme Court said it has no authority to accept the suit because the now-defunct assets panel had the same status with the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

The Supreme Court agreed with the lower courts that Thaksin and Potjaman must file a complaint with the Senate to have the Senate file malfeasance charges against the assets panel in line with the NACC act.

A fugitive on the run can file a lawsuit. Me thinks not.

What a waste of time. coffee1.gif

Trying hard to get the ill gotten gains returned.

I would accept his case, only on the condition that he will appear for the court in person

They should allow them to file a lawsuit - so long as they appear in person.

As we are told he has to be present to hear (the several) charges against him wouldn't it be fair if he had to be there to press charges against others ?

This man never seems to let ethics get in the way of a good piece of B/S ,what a clown to expect a judgement from a court , when all the time he is described as a fugitive, the only thing going for Thaskin is he lives in denial in HK or China,  whilst the state of Thailand has not cancelled his Passport and actively pursues a policy of non involvement,  this cretin is allowed to run where and how he likes and Thailand talks of reforms. bah.gif

Yes it can and it should be allowed to.

Thaksin probably believes Ethics is a county northeast of London.

And more so now that the cash register has stopped kachinging for him and the clan!.....

"Thaksin and Potjaman must file a complaint with the Senate..."

Are the members of the Supreme Court senile or was this statement intended to be a grand joke? The Junta DISSOLVED the Senate and will be replacing the Senate and the House with a handpicked, single legislative body called the National Legislative Assembly. In fact 23 members of the NLA are former Senators. So good luck filing that complaint!

...on what basis do you make such a non-sensical statement...?! Whichever Western country you come from, this would not even be given consideration for a single minute by any court...!! I was part of the legal system in the UK for many years, so don't try telling me I'm wrong...!

If this twat feels that his case has some merit, then let him come back and try to enforce it...!!

Me thinks Thaksin is now history.  More and more people will just block him from their memory and move on.

Well, maybe not in Thailand.  whistling.gif

Not a lot they can do to bring him back. He has committed no crimes that Interpol would be called in for.

They should cancel his Passport not that it would hold him up he has one from about three other countries.

Does any one know what crimes he has to commit before a foreign country would go to the trouble of arresting him and deporting him provided they even had an agreement with Thailand to do things like that.

When you stop and look at the mess they have to clean up he is just a minor thing. He has no more power. He is becoming a national joke..

Not suggesting any thing just reminiscing. I remember a long time ago when Nazi war criminals would suddenly appear with no paper work in Israel.

Running away as he did proves his guilt. Nuff said !

Hey Thaskin I heard if you come here and file in person you will get fair shake. LOL at the end of a rope.
