coz theres a small weir there and the pedad dam is not far from there either :(

the river rescue team tow all the dead dogs people cows etc found floating in the river to a concrete ramp where the green arrow is but how far you can get a boat upstream from there i dont know :(

The Ping River used to be the highroad to Bangkok before the railway reached Chiang Mai.

You could still make the trip in a small boat, but you would have to portage around the Bhumibol Dam... and the reservoir behind the dam has covered the most spectacular part of the Ping River's rapids and gorges.

Nevertheless, it would be a great trip to make, and you don't hear of many people doing it anymore.
