CMHomeboy78 Posted August 22, 2014 Share Posted August 22, 2014 The Ping River used to be the highroad to Bangkok before the railway reached Chiang Mai. You could still make the trip in a small boat, but you would have to portage around the Bhumibol Dam... and the reservoir behind the dam has covered the most spectacular part of the Ping River's rapids and gorges.
