Nok Air is taking precaution after Ebola outbreak



BANGKOK: -- Nok Air is now taking precaution as the Ebola outbreak in West Africa grows, though it does not fly to this part of the world.

The airline’s chief executive officer Patee Sarasin said precaution taken first is the spraying of disinfectant which is certified by World Health Organisation on flights returning from overseas before landing.

A second spraying will be made before the plane gives service on the next flight, he said.

This precaution is now in effect, he said.

Meanwhile ground staff will monitor and screen passengers closely at the airport and will alert public health officials at the airport for thorough check in suspicious case.

He said that although Nok Air does not fly directly to Ebola outbreak countries, the airline does not stay put but adopt international standard measures to ensure all its passengers and staff are safe from Ebola disease.

Presumably they mean that the interior of the aircraft will be sprayed prior to landing.

This is actually not an uncommon procedure on flights originating in places where some undesirable insects may have got on board.

If disinfectant killed Ebola, - that would be nice? No problems anywhere in the world - right?

During a flight if there was an Ebola infected person who made prints here and there of body fluids - and then another passenger came into contact with those fluids (such as sweat, or coughing or pissing etc etc.), then that other person is exposed and is at risk.

Spraying disinfectant as the flight lands does not kill Ebola on the person carrying it or on the people who may be exposed to it.

The intention is good & honorable. At least they are making an effort.

But, in this instance...... disinfectant spray cannot knock out Ebola. May help the passengers feel safer though!

Used to be standard practice for planes flying in to Oz from the UK a few years ago (no I'm not joking)

That's the point. It's not about actually doing anything. It's about creating the illusion that they're doing something.

Illusions do comfort people. The mass media create / manufacture 'illusions' on a daily basis.

The masses buy it all without doing any research. If people did really research what Ebola is, it would scare the crap out of everyone. "We don't want that do we"? Nope, all our Governments are in control, - just do not worry people, - we are spraying disinfectant in the plane. Such stupidity!

But, - people buy that stupidity. They will probably think that Nok Airlines is safe now.

When I read in the posts above - that Thai Airlines and Nok are doing something - and you are asking what about Air Asia? Wow! Are you really buying this stuff?

Get it clear... the Airlines .... not just Thai.... ALL AIRLINES from any Country, - cannot do anything.

Unfortunately, there is not much that anyone CAN do except cancel all flights and quarantine those entire countries.

If there are people infected with Ebola - who have already traveled and are in other countries right now, then it may be too late to absolutely contain it. It only takes one person to infect many ... and so on it goes. The incubation period can be weeks. Testing temperatures of passengers is like spraying disinfectant.

At present, most people are very dismissive about the real danger we are facing.

so during that, up to 21day, incubation period; imagine the possible number of direct person contacts,

then expand the contacts each of the newly infected contacts,

then imagine the number of contacts those new contacts, contact...

...a bit like the in initial Aids spread into the U.S. , how the Ground Zero incubator fella, spread his virus directly to those first 400 victims, then extrapolate that same thing etc in the same way - how those subsequent infectees did their thing too... and 30 years have since passed.

The Entire Quarantining of that village in West Africa the other day - is just the beginning...

Suspend outbound and inbound flights to the continent of Africa. All inbound passengers from Africa originating from other airports must be screened before boarding their flight. Be proactive instead of waiting for the first case because by the time you track down every passenger on a contaminated flight it will be too late.
