Two bodies found near abandoned Catamaran close to Pattaya Island

boat-6.jpg

PATTAYA: -- The badly decomposed bodies of a male and female were found in waters off the coast of Larn Island on Thursday. Close-by was an abandoned Catamaran which is thought to be connected with the couple. For now Police are unsure if the couple were murdered or committed suicide.

The bodies were discovered on Thursday Afternoon in two separate locations off Larn Island, located 4kms off the coast of Pattaya, by two Sea Rescue Units.

Also nearby was an anchored Lagoon 440 Catamaran named “Cat Rynna” and was locked from the outside. Inside there appeared to be no obvious signs of a disturbance but it appears to have been anchored in the area for at-least the last 10 days which would fit with the estimated time of death for both individuals which is 10 to 15 days.

Both bodies were headless when recovered from the sea and the male corpse featured tattoos on his left leg.

For now Police are unsure if the couple were murdered or committed suicide. Both bodies were headless when recovered from the sea...

As clear a case of suicide as you will ever witness in Thailand...these folks...obviously cut each others heads off...in a clever suicide pact...

Case closed!

If the Cat' was locked........did the police find the keys on one or other of the bodies......if not........it is a clear case of murder

As if we didn't figure that already

Piracy of a cruising yacht, and murder of the witnesses because the pirates are locals

or drug delivery gone wrong would be my guess. Decapitation being a message sent

to someone, or to slow identification.

I can only imagine what detectives from the real world think when they read this stuff...blink.png

Suicide ?

aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA the police guess they are falangs, and if they are falangs happened suicide and the file is closed.

Probably both of them cut own head off. This happens often ....

There is no limit to the ingenuity of those darned falang; they are not better than us.

Keep an open mind gents! I recall a case in Canberrra Australia many years ago where a panel van was found in the bush with two decapitated teens in it. At first we thought it was a gruesome murder but after some time their heads were found tangled amongst the bedding in the back of the van. They had tied a rope around their necks and accelerated the car and both the ropes pulled taught at the same time ripping their heads off. The ropes recoiled and were hidden in the bush and the car continued until it hit another tree. As the scene was 'a crime scene' forensic officers were called in and it wasn't until an inspection 'inside' the car, some hours later, the heads were found.

Although it is not likely in this case, it is not totally impossible if they jumped from the mast. Not saying they did, just trying to broaden peoples outlook on things.

Two decapitated bodies and police haven't ruled out suicide?

Yep. A double suicide ... cased closed. I mean, If that Russian could commit suicide by stabbing himself in the chest 7 times, surely cutting one's head off is in the realm of suicide theory.

OK guys .... you can close the case and go get a cup of tea.

After 10 days, decomposition may well cause body parts and even heads to come of. Without any further information the couple could just have anchored their cat and taken a little dinghy to shore. Then on the way (or back) they could have run into trouble with their dinghy and drowned.

The quality of information and reporting makes such incidents almost impossible to fathom.

I know the waters round Koh Larn very well and at this time of year it is hard to imagine how a body could be found "close by" an anchored yacht after 10 to 15 days adrift in these currents.

I am afraid that "close by" is far to ambiguous to be meaningful.

Interesting one, bodies sink for usually three days, come up with decomposition gasses, burst and sink for good....... Found near the vessel ? Tide, current ? There's not enough facts in this statement to make any sense........ Headless ? I'll be interested in the real story of this one........Maybe the old pirates are up to their usual trade, remember that area is where a lot of Thai "Pirates,Fishermen" killed and robbed an awful lot of Vietnamese boat people back in the seventies........Maybe they're skint also .............

Or, could have been hearts stopped!

RIP!

I am sure no one is posting things like the above in jest. Just very sad irony that it is reported like this.

I have read two conflicting reports regarding this sad incident. The first says that both bodies were found without heads, and that the inside of the catamaran which was locked was undisturbed. The second says that only the female was decapitated, and that the boat had been ransacked. Given that reports of this type of incident are rarely accurate, perhaps I could put forward a scenario which might suggest that this was just a terrible accident.

Perhaps one of them fell overboard and the other person also went into the water to try to save them, either they were unable to get back on the boat, or both were poor swimmers and drowned. The current between Koh Sak and Koh Larn is quite strong, which is why notices are on Larn Island warning about swimming. The bodies had been in the water up to two weeks, during which time given the amount of speed boat traffic in this area there would have been plenty of time for one of these speedboats to have hit the body, and decapitated it.

Its just a theory and whether the boat was ransacked or not could point to it being correct or not. There have been many similar incidents in the past of people entering the water from a boat for whatever reason and being unable to get back on board.
