Hi people,

Next week I have to go to Immigration & renew my yearly extension of stay due to marriage, Could you please tell me what form to d/l & where from so I can fill it in before I go there? thanks.

Also I think I know what I need to take plus my Wife but it would be good to have it confirmed as last year I had to come back the next day & a 400 km round trip on my motorbike with the missus on the back is well worth avoiding...

Passport photo page + most recent stamp page + departure card x 3 copies & original.

Marriage Cert. front & back x 3 copies + original.

Amphore Marriage registration front & back x 3 copies + original.

Wife's ID card front & back x 3 copies + original.

Wife's Blue house x 3 copies + original.

My Yellow house book x 3 copies + original.

Bank letter stating I have 400000 Bht in my account.

Bank book updated on the day stating I have 400000 Bht & it's been there for 2 months +.

4 photos of me & the missus in & around our house stuck on a piece of A4.

3 passport pics of me.

A drawn map of how to get to my house from the nearest city.

3 copies of another 2 neighbour's ID cards.(This is what I had to come back with the next day last time)

All copies signed by me, the wife, or both.

& Uncle Tom Cobley & all......

Have I missed anything out?

A ludicrous amount of tree slaughtering it seems to me...

Thank you in advance.....

You should not need but 2 application forms and 2 sets of copies to go with them.

Your wife will have to be with you to do the statement and sign it.

TM7 form doc format. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/tm7.doc

PDF http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/tm7.pdf

Print form 2 sided.

Passports copies should include visa, entry/permitted to stay stamp and extension stamp. TM6 departure card also.

The Kor Ror 2 marriage registry might need to be an updated one. Only 20 baht for a new printout at the Amphoe.

Not sure you will need the neighbors info. That is normally only for the first year.

One thing Joe, The updated Kor Ror 2 registry, can this be done at any Amphoe? or only at where it was registered. As mine was registered in Bangkok & I live in Isaan...

Any amphur if not too long ago. If over 15 years you might need to contact the amphur where you got married by phone and ask them to put it in the online database so you can get it at any amphur.

Because it is based on marriage to a Thai. In that case a copy of all documents are send to higher up in the chain and they will make the decision to grant it or not, instead of the local office.

Why do you need 2 or 3 copies for the extension ?

One set is kept at the local immigration office. The other is sent to the division headquarters for the region of country the application was made in for approval.

Extensions of stay based upon marriage cannot be approved at the local offices.

When you submit the application for the extension (not a visa) and it is accepted they give you a under consideration stamp with a report back date 30 days from when you apply or the date your permit to stay ends (depends on local policy). Then you return on the report back date to get your extension stamp.

Thanks gents , what a lot of farting about , wouldn't pay to live too far from an immigration office. I
can you go out/in on your under consideration stamp, just asking because that could well arise when I am working

You can get a re-entry permit for the under consideration period that would be valid up to the report back date.

You will need a re-entry permit as usual and need to return before the under consideration stamp expires.

Please note 90 day reporting dates do not reset with extension dates. They are separate and work from date of entry into the country or last report.

Chiangmai require 2 copies of documents. But don't need the neighbors ID cards. Maybe it was because it was the first. Would still take them.

Keep smiling.

I understand it may be different for specific offices, but in general do you have to appear in person to get the extension stamped into the passport?

A friend needs to report back a few days after my next visit, so I offered to save him a trip and take his passport (Samui).

Second page of TM7.

Does your friend need to do an extension, or 90 days report ?

If you look at the post he has replied to, I think it's pretty clear that the poster is talking about getting the extension based on having a Thai wife stamped into the passport, at the end of the "under consideration" 30 day period.

So while we all know that you have to apply for the extension in person, do you also have to go in person to pick up the extension 30 days later, when it has been approved?
