Suvarnabhumi airport to Thon Buri train station (Bangkok Noi) help?

I want to get to Thon Buri train station (Bangkok Noi) from Suvarnabhumi airport (and vice-versa).

Am I best off using the Airport Express train to Makkasan or to Phaya Thai and then picking up a taxi or should I just get a taxi from the airport?

Anyone have any idea of each journey duration, logistics (negotiating the train option) and cost of each?

Many thanks.

I have used this and it was pretty close to meter fare when I made the trip I needed.

If your not often traveling in Bangkok a meter taxi is maybe worth it. The trip from Don Mung airport to other was priced right by this site and the train station would not cost that much and save loads of trouble with bags etc.

Is this a different trip or the same one you are asking about in another thread????

Hi,

Do you mean this thread: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/760141-safe-and-easy-trip-from-airport-to-khaosan-road/

If so, then no. That query is Airport to KS Road for my daughter.

This query is for me to get to River Kwai, at a later date, where we are planning to meet up (KS Road just makes me feel "old").

On the KS thread, I have a suspicion that "DraftVader" - see Post#8 may also be confusing the two different enquiries.blink.png

If so, could you perhaps move his repliy(s) to this thread as I (and possibly others, too) am getting confused.

Many thanks.

Thanks, that's absolutely brilliant.

Only concern I have is it says trip duration, by cab, from Airport to Thong Buri station is 28 minutes. I can't imagine it could be that quick but, heck, what do I know?

Thanks again. thumbsup.gif

I can't edit my earlier post for some reason so please ignore my remarks regarding draftvader's answer as, upon closer examination, he is not referring to this Thread but is answering the Khaosan Road enquiry.

My mistake. Confusion no longer reigns. biggrin.png

Taxi would be way easier. I think it would take 40-60 mins depending on traffic.

I think I'm inclined to agree with you, on both counts (ease and trip duration, from looking at maps).

Also, the Taxi-Meter site, kindly provided earlier, states the price as being around 400Baht and I'd be happy paying double that rather than around 2500 for a taxi to River Kwai.

Also, I hate long cab journeys. Like being in a goldfish bowl, looking out at that which I cannot touch or smell. Much prefer a train where I can get up and walk around as well as take a ciggie in the open air between the carriages and gin-khao or bai hong nam and see/hear other travellers, both local and foreign.

That's decided then!

Taxi it is!!!

Thanks again for the advice. wai.gif
