Hi all,

I hope someone can help. I want to get a multiple entry NON-O visa based on marriage, preferably from Penang. I know all consulates/embassies differ in their requirements, so I would like to know if anybody has got this visa from Penang lately or if anybody knows what the requirements are? I know if I go to Laos I can get the NON-O with just marriage cert, but it would be more convenient for me to go to Penang.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Get your wife to call and they will let you know. They always have been helpful on the phone and as things are changing a bit around the area you should easily get the required info.

You will need to show some money in the bank. Some say 400k baht in the bank and others 150k baht, An agent will tell you 400k.

In Savannakhet no financial proof will be needed. They are now doing visas on the same day you appliy.

"others 150k baht" - Can you kindly make "others" more specific?

I just did this last month. I was expecting a huge hassle after reading about all the "visa crackdowns" but was actually delighted by how easy the process turned out to be. Here's a list of the things that scored me a multi non-o marriage visa...

1. 550 ringet or 5,500 baht processing fee

2. bank statements from my american bank account going back 6 months proving an income of 40,000 baht or more (no need to prove a total some of 400k)

3. copy of marriage certificate

4. copy of my wife's "house book"

5. copy of my wife's photo ID

6. copy of my passport

That's all...

I was a little worried at first when I told the immigration officer that i wanted to apply for the 1 year visa and he said "we can try. that'll be 550 ringet."

But in the end everything worked out perfectly. Make sure you have a whole blank visa page available.

Good luck.

I spoke to them a few times on the phone and ended up speaking with the manager because I was getting conflicting answers each time. In reality the immigration officers don't really know what the requirements are. The manager told me that bank statements from my american bank account proving an income of 40,000 baht or more going back 6 months would be fine. It is NOT required to prove a total sum of 150k or 400k in ANY bank account nor do your statements have to be from a Thai bank account. I was successfully granted this visa last month in Penang. see the list of documents i provided in my post above.

...No it's not, I just got my multi-O yesterday, you are confusing the "marriage" visa with a "retirement"visa. You still have to do a border-run every 90-days,however.

Thanks guys for the informative replies. I will take a Thai bank statement with 150k and a UK bank statement just in case more financial proof is needed.

Again thanks for replies and @ Sena Dave I look forward to hearing how you get on.

I'm sorry but I have read your reply 10 times and still don't understand. Please elaborate.

Picked it up yesterday , when the fella gave me the receipt on the day I handed my passport in he said "2 O'clock" I took it for granted he meant 2 o'clock tomorrow . As I was on mmy way to pick it up yesterday and had a look at the receipt and it said pick up on 22 , not 23rd as i had thought. So I think you can do it in one day if you are early enough as i was

For a non-o they normally tell you the next day afternoon for pickup.. But both times the date on the visa was the same day I handed it in. I think it is possible to check the same day before 4pm and see. Although is anyone really in that big of a rush? I suppose you could go to the Gurney Paragon or Gurney Plaza in the mean time if you don't mind walking a bit. Or catch the bus if you have a RapidPenang pass.

Actually I was glad I didnt realise it was for the same day, as it would have meant hanging about. I live in Butterworth so going home or back to work and then back over in the afternoon would have been a pain. Scrum down at the collection time quite a few Chineses types trying to push in , got their marching orders from about 5 of us and then ultimately the bloke issuing the visas
