Hello,

I know this is a bit specialist, but does anyone have any information (websites/links/books, etc) relating to media laws and regulations in Thailand? Back in the UK we have 300-page books on what can and cannot be published, laws of libel, etc, and I wonder if there is anything similar here?

Information in English would be great but anything in Thai would be equally acceptable too.

Many thanks for your help.

Basically anything you print or publish, whether true or not, can be actionable.

Example:

Corrupt Politican gets arrested for fraud.

Local newspaper reports it.

Corrupt Politician sues for loss of face.

Corrupt Politician wins lots of money.

Local newspaper shuts down.

My company had a very expensive report put together about this sort of thing. Cost about 20,000+ baht for about a quarter inch of files and examples.

PM if you need to know anything else, I have a few real life stories that I could tell you (but I do not want to get sued for telling the truth).
