There's a very good gated compound just behind he bus/van station there near the bridge. I've been parking there for quite a few years, longest stay was about 10 days, last trips, for a week each, were in March & June this yea. Baht 100 per day. Never had a problem, including one time when one of the door locks on our car was broken and anyone could have opened it.

Hmmm, I don't remember the hours but have been there at 0700 hrs, when I spent the night in Udorn or Nong Khai, have also picked up our car and paid for the parking in the evening, 1930 hrs or so.

You could get a tuk tuk to Thai Immigration, altho I've walked it before when just doing a visa run. But if you've got a bag probably better to buy a baht 20 ticket for the van/bus. It stops at Thai Immigration and waits, then motors on across the bridge and drops the pax at Lao Immigration.

Great thanks excuse Whongkhai spelling

Is it open all hours and easy walk, tuktuk to the border?

There is at least one secure car park (100 baht per night for a car, 30 baht for a motorbike) on the left side of the road when you are on your way to Laos from Thailand, at just about 200 meters before the passport control booths on the Thai side of the border.

So, it's a less than 5 mn walk to the border if you use this secure car park, and they may even carry you for free with their own tuktuk (actually, it's a 'samlor' around here) from there to the border, depending on your arrival time and the availability of this vehicle then. I don't know if it is open 24/7, but it's at least open during the Friendship bridge opening hours, which is what really matters.
