Could someone enlighten me as to what is required to apply for a double entry visa. I got one 3 months back and thought this was good for 180 days but the visa expires on the 23rd and I am off to Laos tonight to get another. I have the photos, passport, vias appl form. What other forms do I need to download as I am in a rush and forgot :(

help and advice appreciated!

Double entry visas purchased in neighboring countries and some others are only valid for 3 months. If you have only used the visa for one entry you can do a border run on or before the 23rd and when you reenter you will get another 60 days permission to stay which can be extended for 30 days, 1900 baht, even though the visa is expired. The visa is only a ticket to enter Thailand, once you enter you will be allowed to stay past it's expiration date.

So will I still need to go the embassy in etienne or just pass immigration, stay for a day and return?

Depends on what your current visa states. If it is double entry (Number of entries: 2) and the validity date hasn't passed yet, all you have to do is pass a border, check in to the next country, make a u-turn and get stamped back in for your second entry (60 days + optional 30 day extension). No overnight stay required.

If your visa has expired, you'll have to get a new one, which will most likely require you to stay a night. Requirements are basically: "Show up". Everything you need to process your application is readily available at or next to the Embassy.
