DDPM maps out new action plan for 2015

BANGKOK, 23 September 2014 (NNT) - The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) is outlining new action plans for disaster management in the country in a bid to develop better risk management systems.

DDPM director-general Chatchai Promlert said during a seminar on the national action plan that the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Act 2007 has been drafted to cover a wide range of disaster prevention measures and more action plans needed to be issued to handle localized disaster management work.

The national Disaster Prevention action plan in effect during 2010-2014 will soon expire and a new master plan is set to be devised for use in the coming years. Related public and private agencies and international organizations have been invited to help map out a new plan.

The new plan, set to be enforced next year, will focus on four areas including strengthening the capacity of disaster management work during emergency situations and supporting more co-operations between nations.

The national Disaster Prevention and Mitigation committee will forward the outcome of the discussion during the seminar to the cabinet for consideration. The new plan is slated to be approved by the cabinet by January of next year.

I don't understand.

The old action plan never worked, so there is a committee to determine a new action plan based on the old action plans, that never worked and are soon to expire, to expedite an action plan in conformity with previous plans that could not accomplish anything. Then they are going to set a new set of rules based, in part, on a set of rules that had no result, to produce an outcome obviously more in line with non-action than the previous committee. Further, there will discussions about ideas that could, one day, become concepts that someone can work into an action plan that becomes...a new idea that changes nothing, of course, but is obviously better than the old ideas that never worked at all.

How much are they paying these guys? I want a new job.
