Visa Run To Major Chinese Cities.....Which Cities Are Sure Thing? Is Vientiane Surer?

Featured Replies

Here is a question.

What about if one does not want to do the usual thing to renew a visa?

Let's say one does not want to go to a SE Asian country to apply for a entry visa, but wants to try a major city in China, instead.

What is the relative assurance that the visa will be granted in a major Chinese city with a Thai consulate, compared to Vientiane Lao?

By major city, this might be Beijing, GuangDong, ShangHai, HarBin, DaLian, ChengDu, etc.

Does the fact that one is not applying for a tourist visa, but a non-imm O visa, or maybe an ED Visa, make any difference?

Or, are there more stringent requirements for visas of this type.

What about time for application differences?

Or, just info from people who have done this before.

It would be fun to see China, especially now. So if the visa were same same there or in Vientiane, then China would be preferable, perhaps.

Thnks.

Unless you are a Chinese citizen or have residency in China you will not get a visa anywhere.

Only Hong Kong and Taipei are listed here as tourist visa destinations in China:

Furthest I've gone in that direction is Korea, south of course.

O Multi takes three days, ie submit with usual required documents on Monday and collect Wenesday.

Seoul I believe is the only city with an Embassy/Consulate.

Yeah, Seoul is a good city for it. I did two separate visas there...one tourist and one based on marriage. The embassy is a convenient taxi ride away from the foreign area (where a lot of visitors like to stay--I used to go to eat foreign food between visits to the consulate there, but you could try a lot of Korean stuff, too. I was eating that every day, so stopping by a Western place was a treat). Could give you an excuse to check out Seoul for a week or so. If you are bringing along your Thai lady, I am sure she would love it. PM me if you want ideas about it.

It's definitely not China, but hey...it is different.

Not entirely true. I got a Non Imm B visa in Beijing as a non-resident, non citizen. I did have an invitation from a BOI company to come to Thailand for a job interview- with a lot of paperwork attached that they kept. Turned the Non-Imm B into a WP and a series of extensions, without having to leave Thailand for another visa.

I definitely wouldn't recommend it for as casual visa run.

As a resident of China I tried to apply for a Non O in Shanghai to get extension of stay later. It was turned down to a tourist visa.

It is possible to get a visa in Beijing but also quite tiresome. It should be noted that they are set up for Chinese people who have to go through the hoops with their own government before leaving.

A visa run also requires you to get a visa in Bangkok for China before leaving the country.

This is my experience from 2011 things may have changed since then.

I'am quite sure the residents of Taipei, Taiwan would disavow any relation with China.

Who cares. What is relevant to this thread is what the OP & other readers consider to be "China" & helpful info related to the topic.

Yeah! you are so clever to point that out! A totally unnecessary topic answered in the the 3rd post of 9. As you can now judge that TV members know when someone can google for their answers but loneliness and boredom make them come to TV with their useless dribble sometimes. Like me with this reply to your useless comment to me.saai.gif.pagespeed.ce.f25DL0fHCd.gifsaai.gif.pagespeed.ce.f25DL0fHCd.gif

Since the OP is "not a member anymore", one doubt if this was a troll thread too ?
