Now, the next question is why doesn't Palestine just unilaterally declare statehood? They don't need Israel's approval

Actually they DO, unless they want to violate the treaties that they have signed. wink.png

Are you talking about Israel or Palestine ?

If you read something about the conflict that was not on nutty Islamic hate-sites, you would know the 1995 Interim Agreement states that, "Neither side shall initiate or take any step that will change the status of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip pending the outcome of the Permanent Status negotiations.” The United States, European Union, the Russian Federation, Egypt and Norway are signatories to the Interim Agreement as witnesses.

66 UN resolutions have passed against Israel till now.

29 others have been vetoed against by the US.

The total of UN resolutions against Israel would now equal 95 instead of 66.

This proves Israel's unlawful and uncivilized actions over a period of more than 45 years.

Does it really?

What it actually "proves" is that the U.N. is specifically picking on Israel when they don't bother passing resolutions against other countries doing MUCH WORSE things.

An alien observing the United Nations' debates, reading its resolutions, and walking its halls could well conclude that a principal purpose of the world body is to censure a tiny country called Israel.

All it proves is that the UN - so called - "Human Rights Council" are a bunch of hypocrites and criminals that could care less about human rights - which fits right in with Abbas' blatant lies about "genocide."

For those who keep pointing to the UN as some sort of legitimate authority... I don't know where you are from but a huge portion of the American population think the UN is a joke -- a bad joke... I am not saying the majority of Americans but a very large percentage - I would like to see a poll actually... But not only do we think the UN is a joke we want them to leave NY and set up permanent shop in Geneva and stay there. The absolutely absurd things the UN has done in the past 10-12 years could fill a book...

In our opinion the UN is the antitheses of everything the U.S.A stands for - or should stand for... Not only does citing the UN carry no weight - it takes away from your credibility ...

Thus, this sounds like a conspiracy theory against Israel ?

At least you can admit that bombing UN shelters and UN schools in Gaza are violations in terms of war crimes and crimes against humanity... Edited by Thorgal

OP is about serious accusations against Israel.

What The US thinks about the UN is off topic...

I don't see any reason why human rights from 70 years ago should be diffirent from those of today...

Nope, I can't.

The UN in Gaza is complicit with Hamas in the storage and firing of rockets from those same UN facilities.

You can't clean up the skirts of the UN on this.

Complicit? Complicit in firing rockets?

Knowing you to be fairly literate, I can only assume you have used the word "complicit" properly.

To say that the UN is complicit in firing rockets is quite a strong accusation. Preposterous, I would say.

Care to provide any evidence of this?
