I have this sticker reading กางหลาง on this motorbike that I bought second-hand in Haad Yai about 18 years ago.

I gave the bike to my brother-in-law about ten years ago and just got it back.

My wife informs me that กางหลาง is southern Thai slang for someone who is abnormal, always puts themselves first and is only used for males.

(she also informs me most of my drinking buddies qualify)

I am wondering if she means something like 'narcissist', but if that is the case why would it be restricted to males?

So now I am thinking whether I should take the sticker off, since it is hardly suitable for a 50-year-old university teacher.

That said it is a bit of a conundrum because that sticker has been on the bike for 18 years and it (the bike) has never been in a serious accident.

It's not that I am superstitious, but I follow the 'if it ain't broken don't fix it" mantra down to the last letter (in this case quite literally)

Anyway, if anyone can provide more on the real meaning of the word pls let me know!

Not "narcissistic". Disobedient, roguish, delinquent.

Thanks for that; I have decided to get another sticker reading ไม่ to put in front of it as a 'quick fix' to my dilemma.
