7 days courtesy extension on yearly non-imm B will not be granted anymore

Featured Replies

In the process of extending my yearly business visa (non-imm-B in bangkok immigration offices, the officer urged me to put together all the required documents before the visa expires. she said that they will not issue any more 7 days courtesy extension as they used to do in the past. does anyone heard about it or have solid information? I was also required to sign a document that i acknowledge the overstay penalties.

Note you are applying for an extension of stay, not a visa.

The 7 days extensions are not a 'courtesy' since you pay for them Bt 1,900 and are issued on the basis of being denied any other possible type. These are still issued the only difference that once you have been given one it's final and you can't present further applications after that, must leave country.

correct... not courtesy really ;-))

what i was told by the officer is that under "new rules" they will not give a 7 days extension anymore as an extra window time to submit in missing documents. my advise, dont wait for the last moment to get your 1+11 months visa extension

Normally you get a 1 month extension before the 1 year extension. (under consideration stamp).

In 2008, my 1 year extension was refused, the 1 month extension cancelled (it still had like over 2 weeks to go), and I got the dreaded 7 days stamp.

Wonder what happens now if the 1 year extension is refused, do you have to leave the country the very same day?

As Paz already said, it's not a visa extension, it's an extension of stay issued by immigrations. Visas are never extended.

for clarification.

The 7 days extension of stay for business visa is still available at 1,900bht

however, you may not use this extension to gain time and submit missing documents as you could do in the past to continue with the process of the one year extension.

if your paper work is not in order. after 7 days extension of stay you are now must leave the country.
