I have an extension based on marriage which expires on the 4th October, but recently I have taken a job abroad so I have no intention of renewing this extension.

Anyway, I have just entered the country for a 2 week holiday and was hoping that I would get a 'visa on entry' for the 2 weeks, I'm going back on the 10th October, but when the immigration officer saw the re-entry stamp he said he couldn't issue another visa because this visa is still valid.

My question is this, can I get another extension to this visa for the remainder of my holiday or will I have to exit and enter the country on the 4th?

Advice welcomed

You could apply for a 60 day extension to visit you wife. She will need to go with you when you apply. You will need your marriage certificate (plus a copy), copies your wife's house book and ID card.

From Police order 138/2557

2.24 In the case of visiting a spouse or children who are of Thai nationality:
Each permission shall be granted for no more than 60 days.

1. Application form.
2. Copy of applicant’s passport.
3. Copy of household registration certificate.
4. Copy of national ID card of the person having Thai nationality.
5. Copy of a marriage certificate or copy of a birth certificate.

Happy conclusion, I went to CM immigration today and they extended my visa by 7 days so I will not overstay or have to leave the country. I have to say, very friendly officers who were very professional and happy to help even though they are working in very hot, cramped conditions.
